About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Software Engineerr in technology as part of Commercial and Corporate & Investment Banking Technology. This candidate will be supporting our Fixed Income Currencies & Commodities (FICC) and Derivatives this role you will design develop and enhance strategic trade management platform capabilities that support the full trade lifecycle across cash and derivative products. Working closely with traders quantitative analysts product owners and technology teams you will help modernize critical Capital Markets applications through cloud-native architecture microservices and AI-enabled development practices.

This position offers the opportunity to work on highly scalable high-performance trading systems while contributing to the transformation of Wells Fargos next-generation trade processing and risk management platforms.

This role requires a strong technical leader who can drive the design development and modernization of enterprise applications supporting Capital Markets platforms. The individual will leverage expertise in Java cloud-native technologies microservices and AI-assisted development tools to deliver scalable resilient and high-performing solutions. Success in this role requires close collaboration with business and technology partners a commitment to engineering excellence and the ability to mentor teams while advancing modern architecture and software development best practices.

In this role you will:

  • Lead complex technology initiatives including those that are companywide with broad impact
  • Act as a key participant in developing standards and companywide best practices for engineering complex and large scale technology solutions for technology engineering disciplines
  • Design code test debug and document for projects and programs
  • Review and analyze complex large-scale technology solutions for tactical and strategic business objectives enterprise technological environment and technical challenges that require in-depth evaluation of multiple factors including intangibles or unprecedented technical factors
  • Make decisions in developing standard and companywide best practices for engineering and technology solutions requiring understanding of industry best practices and new technologies influencing and leading technology team to meet deliverables and drive new initiatives
  • Collaborate and consult with key technical experts senior technology team and external industry groups to resolve complex technical issues and achieve goals
  • Lead projects teams or serve as a peer mentor

Required Qualifications:

  • 5 years of Software Engineering experience or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience training military experience education
  • 4 years in FICC Trade Life Cycle: Deep domain knowledge of Fixed Income Currencies and Commodities including trade capture valuation models and lifecycle event management
  • 4 years High-Performance Stack: Proven mastery of Java (concurrency JVM tuning) and Python (FastAPI data science libraries)
  • 4 years Distributed Systems: Extensive experience with gRPC Service Mesh (Istio/Linkerd) and high-performance messaging protocols

Desired Qualifications:

  • Platform Pedigree: Prior experience building or significantly contributing to industry-leading platforms
  • Complex Derivatives Knowledge: Understanding of pricing and risk for complex derivatives (Swaps Options Exotics) and how they translate into trade event models
  • Agentic Development: Experience implementing GitHub CoPilot or similar AI-assisted engineering tools at scale to drive Agentic Development workflows.
  • Modern UI Patterns: Experience with Micro Front Ends to decouple the trader UI and allow for independent module deployment
  • Cloud Native: Familiarity with deploying mission-critical financial systems on hybrid cloud environments (Azure/GCP/AWS) with a focus on data residency and sovereignty
  • Academic Background: Bachelors or masters degree in computer science Financial Engineering

Pay Range

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance skills experience or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.
