Under the general supervision of the Director of Finance and Operations (DFO) the Lead Financial Analyst plays a key role in budget and financial analysis forecasting budget planning variance analysis cost recovery analysis external and internal project analysis and reporting and process improvement for the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences. The incumbent assists DFO with the development and implementation of the annual College budget forecasting annual commitments and revenue expenses cost recovery and outstanding multi-year commitments and projects; monitors and performs monthly reconciliation of expenses including payroll expenses for all College personnel utilizing multiple funding sources including Auxiliary funds.

• Monitors projections and performance on a monthly quarterly and annual basis and reports variances in plans.
• Ensures financial data integrity and proactively takes actions in resolving posting discrepancies ensuring transactions post to corresponding budget allocations and chartfields match budget allocations.
• Processes journal entries and budget transfers. Proactively plans for University deadlines..
• Performs cost recovery analysis and submits IRT (Individual Release Time) and RFI (Request for Invoice) forms using various systems to generate an invoice and recover salary and benefits for auxiliary funded projects including release time consultant pay and operating costs.
• Responsible for performing a detailed analysis and reporting of commitments in order to meet cost match and/or cost share requirements are met on a monthly and quarterly basis.
• Maintains expert-level knowledge of all current CSU and CSUN financial applications and systems and provides training to college users.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities

• Knowledge of budget development forecasting financial reconciliation payroll analysis cost recovery revenue and expenditure tracking and year-end closing processes across multiple funding sources.
• Skill in analyzing financial data identifying discrepancies and variances preparing reports and supporting documentation processing journal entries and budget transfers and developing accurate financial tracking tools.
• Ability to interpret and apply institutional policies accounting practices procurement methods funding requirements and reporting procedures related to state-side auxiliary grant contract and self-support funds.
• Ability to communicate financial information clearly collaborate with campus partners provide recommendations meet deadlines and use systems such as CHRS CFS Data Warehouse eMOU IRT RFI and IFT.

• The anticipated HIRING RANGE is $5274 $6960 per month dependent on qualifications and experience. The salary range for this classification is: $5274 - $7684 per month.
• HOURS: Full Time; 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday. May include evenings and weekends.
• This is a Regular position with a one-year probationary period.
• The position is currently hybrid (4 days in office 1 days remote); however this is subject to change based on student and/or operational needs.
