Job Description
We are seeking a Lead Facilities Engineer to support our Advanced Manufacturing Facility (AMF) in Huntsville AL. This role will contribute to equipment design procurement and installation as well as the evaluation and improvement of plant utilities. The Facilities Engineer will play a critical role in supporting composite rocket motor fabrication and assembly by partnering closely with Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering Maintenance and contractors to specify develop and transition manufacturing processes from development to production.
This position requires a motivated hands-on self-starting engineer with strong technical expertise and the ability to lead cross-functional efforts.
Essential Functions:
Assist with the design and evaluation of equipment to be procured.
Plan configure and install equipment for composite part fabrication.
Support facility needs by identifying deficiencies and driving projects to resolve them.
Evaluate plant utilities to identify deficiencies and implement corrective actions.
Provide technical guidance to Engineering and Maintenance teams.
Support capital planning and assist with justification for capital funding.
Collaborate with internal maintenance teams and external contractors to maintain overall facility performance.
Troubleshoot facility controls systems and equipment ensuring robust corrective actions.
Support quality safety and environmental objectives.
Occasional travel (approximately 10%) may be required to support equipment procurement.
Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree and a minimum of 9 years of related experience; OR Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of related experience; OR a minimum of 13 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
Advanced understanding of facility utilities controls and systems.
Proficiency in root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
Experience working with outside maintenance contractors.
Proven ability to lead multi-functional teams.
Must be able to obtain the appropriate U.S. security clearance.
Preferred Additional Skills:
CAD experience.
Experience troubleshooting facility systems equipment and controls.
Experience with equipment installation.
