Job Summary

Name of position: Lead Enterprise Architect

Location: 2 Broadway - MTA Headquarters

Note: This can be Hybrid or Full Remote

Role Summary The Lead Enterprise Architect provides seniorlevel leadership to stabilize and mature the Enterprise Architecture function. This role oversees Corporate Products EA Transportation EA and Business Architecture teams establishes governance aligns EA with modernization and AIassisted delivery.

Key Responsibilities

EA Leadership and Stabilization

Provide daytoday leadership for EA teams (Corporate Products Transportation Business Architecture).

Establish operational rhythm: standups intake triage prioritization architecture decision support.

Mentor architects and elevate architectural thinking across product teams.

EA Governance and Operating Model

Define and implement lightweight EA governance standards and engagement models.

Establish architecture review processes and decision frameworks.

Modernization and AI Alignment

Align EA with modernization initiatives.

Integrate AIdriven architecture methods into EA workflows.

Assess EA team capabilities and gaps.

Required Skills and Experience (with Years)

Enterprise Architecture Leadership

Enterprise Architecture Leadership 15 years. Leading EA teams defining frameworks establishing governance and driving enterprisewide architecture programs.

EA Frameworks (DoDAF UAF TOGAF BEA ETP) 10 years. Applying structured architecture methods in complex environments.

Systems Engineering and Modernization

Systems Engineering 15 years. Designing and modernizing largescale systems across multiple domains.

Cloud Architecture (AWS Google Cloud) 7 years. Leading cloud transitions modernization and secure cloud adoption.

Zero Trust Architecture (NIST ZT) 5 years. Implementing cybersecurity mitigation aligned to modern enterprise standards.

Microservices/SOA Architecture 10 years. Designing serviceoriented and microservicesbased systems.

AIDriven Architecture

AI Integration in Architecture Methods 3 years. Applying AI to architecture products modernization workflows and decision support.

Federal/State Enterprise Experience (Optional but Valuable)

Enterprise Architecture Consulting 10 years. Providing strategic architecture guidance in highstakes federal environments.

IT Acquisition Reform 5 years. Experience with enterpriselevel acquisition and transformation programs.

Leadership and Advisory

Executive Advisory Experience 10 years. Advising CIOs CTOs and senior executives on enterprise architecture strategy.

Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Engineering Computer Science or related field.

20 years total experience in enterprise architecture systems engineering or modernization leadership.

Proven ability to stabilize and mature EA functions in complex organizations.

Strong communication skills and ability to work with senior leadership

Required Skills:

Minimum 7 years experience must in below skill sand experience Azure App Services Azure functions Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) Azure Storage (Blob Table Queue) Azure SQL/Cosmos DB Azure API Management Azure DevOps (Repos Pipelines Boards) Identity & Access: Azure AD OAuth2 OpenID Connect Responsive UI implementation (HTML/CSS) REST and GraphQL client-side integration NET Core / .NET 7 or Designing scalable REST APIs Microservices architecture Event-driven design using Azure Event Grid Service Bus or Event Hubs ORM experience (Entity Framework Sequelize Prisma etc. SQL Server and writing optimized SQL queries NoSQL experience with Cosmos DB Data modeling and schema design Integrations with Azure Data Factory Azure DevOps Pipelines or GitHub Actions Infrastructure as Code: Bicep ARM or Terraform Containerization (Docker) and orchestration (AKS) Automated testing frameworks and test strategy design Strong understanding of distributed systems.
