Lead Cook

Tiggs Canteen Services is currently seeking a Full-Time Permanent Lead Cook to work at Grand Traverse County Jail in Traverse City Michigan.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a kitchen environment is comfortable taking on leadership responsibilities and wants to be part of a team that makes a difference every day.

As a Lead Cook you will play an important role in the daily operation of the facility kitchen. Responsibilities may include:.

• Working as part of a team in a structured correctional environment
• Preparing baking and cooking meals according to company standards
• Reading and following company recipes and established procedures
• Helping ensure meals are prepared accurately and on schedule
• Assisting with kitchen organization and maintaining a clean work area
• Assisting with kitchen clean-up and maintaining proper sanitation

• Leading directing and assisting inmates within the kitchen
• A positive dependable and professional attitude
• The ability to work effectively in a structured correctional environment
• The ability to read understand and follow company recipes
• The ability to assist with food preparation baking cooking and clean-up
• The ability to lift up to 50 pounds

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to work weekends and holidays
• Flexibility to work varying days and hours approximately 10:00 AM-6:00 PM
• Must be able to obtain clearance and approval to work inside the facility

Previous food service or kitchen experience is a plus but it is not required. We are willing to train the right person!
