We are looking for a Permanent Full-Time Lead Cook to join our team at the Berrien County Jail in St. Joseph Michigan.

The Lead Cook plays an important role in keeping daily kitchen operations running smoothly. You will help lead the kitchen team while assisting with the preparation and service of meals. This position requires someone who can follow instructions work well with others and take pride in maintaining high standards of food preparation and cleanliness.

• Leading directing and assisting inmates within the kitchen
• Prepare bake and cook meals according to company recipes
• Assist with meal planning and preparation
• Follow all company policies procedures and food safety standards
• Maintain a clean organized and safe kitchen
• Assist with kitchen clean-up and other daily duties
• Work effectively within a structured correctional facility

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous kitchen or food service experience is preferred but not required
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• Ability to read and follow recipes and written instructions
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Dependable and able to work well as part of a team
• Flexibility to work weekends and holidays
• Flexibility to work varying shifts between 8:30 a.m. and 6:15 p.m.
• Must be able to obtain clearance approval to enter the facility

Dont have previous correctional food service experience Thats okay! Previous kitchen experience is a plus but Tiggs Canteen Services is willing to train the right person who has the right attitude work ethic and desire to succeed.
