Position Summary

B&D Contracting is seeking an experienced Lead Commercial Electrician (Leadman) to oversee commercial electrical projects in the New Orleans Louisiana area. The Leadman will supervise crews while remaining hands-on in the field ensuring projects are completed safely efficiently on schedule and in accordance with company quality standards.

The ideal candidate has extensive commercial electrical experience strong leadership skills and the ability to read plans coordinate daily activities assign work mentor apprentices and communicate effectively with project managers superintendents inspectors and customers.

This position requires leading by example while maintaining the highest standards of safety workmanship and productivity.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise commercial electrical crews on construction and renovation projects.
  • Assign daily tasks and ensure work is completed safely and efficiently.
  • Read and interpret blueprints electrical drawings specifications and project schedules.
  • Coordinate manpower materials and equipment with project management.
  • Install EMT RMC PVC and flexible conduit.
  • Pull terminate test and troubleshoot electrical wiring and systems.
  • Install switchgear transformers electrical panels disconnects lighting motor controls VFDs and other commercial electrical equipment.
  • Ensure installations meet NEC OSHA and local building code requirements.
  • Perform quality control inspections on completed work.
  • Coordinate with other trades to minimize delays and maintain project schedules.
  • Train mentor and evaluate apprentices and journeyman electricians.
  • Conduct daily safety meetings and enforce company safety policies.
  • Track materials and notify supervisors of shortages.
  • Maintain accurate daily reports and communicate project progress.
  • Operate aerial lifts scissor lifts ladders and testing equipment safely.
  • Troubleshoot complex electrical systems and provide solutions.
  • Maintain clean organized and safe job sites.
Must Haves
  • Minimum 7 years of commercial electrical experience.
  • Minimum 2 years leading electrical crews as a Leadman or Foreman.
  • Strong working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Proven experience reading blueprints and coordinating installations.
  • Advanced conduit bending skills (EMT RMC PVC).

Physical Requirements
