Position Summary:

The Lead Clinical Cardiac Sonographer (Cardiac Sonographer III) performs high quality echocardiogram ultrasound procedures and is proficient in all the clinical echocardiographic procedures and protocols performed in the JHH Echo lab. Responsible for optimizing team performance by functioning as the main daily expediter to facilitate the daily workflow of the JHH Echo lab. Responsible for communicating with the department manager sonographers nurses physicians and hospital staff daily. Ensures optimum productivity of all sonographers in performing adult echocardiograms and assists them in developing the necessary skills to perform the highest quality studies. Maintains efficient daily operations of the JHH Echo Lab in the role of main daily expediter by assigning sonographers to daily rotating inpatient and outpatient assignments which are delegated appropriately using best judgement. Serves as the chief clinical resource communication resource and mentor for students sonographers cardiology fellows and faculty. Works with new sonographer hires to provide education about the normal operations of the JHH Echo lab and the expected daily workflow. Assists with administrative duties within the department as requested. Manages equipment communication with clinical engineering in the event of machine issues. Operates and provides care for ultrasound equipment and medical equipment devices utilized in the JHH Echo Lab.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduation from a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Program (CAAHEP) accredited diagnostic ultrasound program addition a Bachelor of Science degree OR five years of working experience in an Echo lab within an academic hospital is required.
  • Board certificate in Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) by The American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) OR Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) by Cardiac Credentialing International (CCI) required. Must maintain certification in active status through continuing medical education. Membership and active participation in a professional national organization (such as American Society of Echocardiography) is highly preferred.

Salary Range: Minimum 45.28/hour - Maximum 74.76/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
