Summary of the position:
The Laser Operator will be a driven team player with experience operating sheet metal laser cutting equipment. This position requires an individual to perform several duties as defined within the laser operation department. The individual will be completely responsible for producing high quality product safely and efficiently.
This position is located at the manufacturing plant of Hitachi Global Air Power US LLC located in Michigan City Indiana and reports to the Fabrication Shop Production Supervisor.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Set-up troubleshoot and operating of the machines including cut condition tool and work piece adjustments.
- Safe material handling processes including forklift driving and overhead crane operating.
- Safely execute daily production quality and on-time delivery requirements.
Qualifications:
Education:
- High School education or equivalent.
Professional experience:
- 3-5 years of sheet metal laser equipment experience preferred and/or machine trades schooling.
- Experience with Amada lasers and laser/turret combination machines preferred
- Experience with laser programming and nesting is a plus
- Experience with machine material handling automation is a plus
- Strong mathematical skills.
- Understand technical blueprints.
- Computer skills required (i.e. spreadsheets data entry email).
- Ability to use precision measurement devices to work within tight tolerances.
- Ability to work with cranes sharp edges on machined parts and moving parts by carts.
Key behaviors:
- Lifting up to 35 lbs.
- Lifting over 35 lbs. requires a lifting device crane or assistance from another associate.
- Standing and walking minimum of 8 hours.
- Must be able to bend/stoop squat/crouch kneel and twist.
- Must understand and comply with Sullair Safety Standards.
- Participate in EHS quarterly audits if required.
- Required to wear the proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) for the work area.
- Required to attend scheduled toolbox and safety meetings.
- Must immediately report injuries or unsafe conditions to the supervisor.
