We are seekinga Land Survey Crew Chief Iwho plays a critical role responsible for overseeing and executing land survey projects using advanced survey equipment such as Trimble-based GPS systems robotic total stations and other state-of-the-art tools. This role ensures the accurate collection of survey data compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and effective leadership of field crews to support successful project delivery.
Responsibilities
- Lead field operations for land surveys ensuring all tasks are completed accurately and efficiently.
- Coordinate with clients project managers and other stakeholders to understand project goals and deliverables.
- Operate Trimble-based GPS equipment and robotic total stations with proficiency.
- Conduct regular maintenance checks on surveying equipment and ensure they are functioning properly.
- Collect precise measurements for boundary determination topographical surveys and subsurface utility information.
- Perform site calibrations to ensure accuracy in data collection.
- Interpret boundary evidence accurately and provide clear documentation of findings.
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols while working on job sites including wearing appropriate protective gear.
- Ensure that all crew members comply with safety regulations and best practices.
- Maintain detailed survey data records and prepare reports as required by clients or legal standards.
- Review and analyze collected data for accuracy and completeness before finalizing project documentation.
- Provide training and guidance to junior survey technicians on the use of equipment and best practices in land surveying.
- Foster a team environment where collaboration and improvement are prioritized.
- Ensure confidentiality of company information.
- Participate in ongoing training to maintain technical proficiency and compliance.
- Perform other related duties assigned by management.
Qualifications
- 3 years of progressive land surveying experience including assisting with or leading daily field operations.
- 2 years of experience as a Survey Crew Chief preferred.
- Additional education or training in GIS surveying technology or related fields preferred.
- FAA Part 107C Certified for operating drones/UAS or ability to obtain certification within 60 days.
- Proficiency operating Trimblebased GPS systems robotic total stations and standard surveying instruments.
- Experience with Trimble based Hardware and Software.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management software.
- Experience performing subsurface utility engineering (SUE) investigations preferred.
- Experience with groundbased terrestrial mapping and aerial mapping preferred
- Ability to perform constructionphase survey layout for hardscape utilities and structural features under direction.
- Foundational capability interpreting plans specifications and basic boundary evidence.
- Ability to perform site calibrations and collect accurate field measurements for boundary topographic and construction surveys.
- Strong knowledge of fundamental land surveying principles techniques and field practices.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy in all field measurements and documentation.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for collaboration with crew members clients and project managers.
- Solid problemsolving skills to address routine challenges encountered on job sites.
- Ability to provide basic guidance and support to Survey Field Technicians.

Additional Information
- Must be willing to travel up to 50% to job sites across the United States for extended periods (typically 57 days).
- Must have a valid drivers license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and terrain conditions.
- Ability to stand walk and lift equipment (up to 50 lbs.) for extended periods.
- Willingness to work 10-hour days and overtime as needed.
Shiftis Monday-Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. CST but must be able to work outside normal business hours when required.
