Job Summary

Research & Development (R&D) Laboratory Technician

Location: Thompsons Station TN 37179
Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:30 AM-4:00 PM
Contract: 6-12 months with potential for extension

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented R&D Laboratory Technician to support research product development and laboratory testing activities. This role will perform analytical testing on raw materials and finished products support stability programs document experimental results and help maintain a safe organized and efficient laboratory environment.

The ideal candidate has a scientific background strong attention to detail and the ability to follow established procedures in a fast-paced laboratory setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine laboratory testing according to established SOPs including texture analysis rheological measurements microscopy and physical/chemical testing.
  • Accurately record analyze and communicate laboratory and experimental results.
  • Support the North America Stability Program by completing scheduled sample pulls and coordinating with program leadership.
  • Prepare reagents buffers and laboratory standards for testing.
  • Perform routine calibration and verification of laboratory equipment including balances and pipettes.
  • Maintain laboratory cleanliness organization and readiness in accordance with safety and quality standards.
  • Follow all safety quality and compliance requirements including proper chemical handling and waste disposal.
  • Collaborate with R&D and cross-functional teams to support research and product development initiatives.
Required Qualifications
  • Associate or Bachelors degree in Chemistry Biology Food Science or a related scientific field.
  • 0-3 years of laboratory experience including academic or industry experience.
  • Knowledge of basic laboratory techniques and safety practices.
  • Ability to follow detailed SOPs and maintain accurate laboratory records.
  • Strong attention to detail organization and problem-solving skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Ability to perform data entry and basic data analysis.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive laboratory tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in Food Science Pet Food Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) or related industries.
  • Hands-on experience with laboratory instrumentation such as texture analyzers rheometers or microscopes.
  • Experience with stability studies or shelf-life testing.
  • Familiarity with regulated laboratory environments including GMP or GLP.

Work Environment
