What are we looking for

Education and Experience:

  • Associates degree with coursework emphasizing human resources writing composition and other related business subjects; AND

  • Substantive experience related to union activities and other collective bargaining topics; OR
  • Alternate combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Competencies:

  • Effective communication skills both verbal and written. Ability to interact with employees managers and others in both positive and challenging situations.

  • Proficient in using Adobe and Microsoft Office software suite with advanced skills in Word and Outlook. Ability to learn software programs and perform updates to websites.
  • Effective proofreading formatting and editing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality as this position has frequent contact and access to confidential information.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with division staff union representatives other agency staff and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated accuracy and thoroughness to ensure quality work output.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple competing priorities and ensure sometimes overlapping deadlines are met.
  • Appropriate identification and resolution of problems within areas of responsibility.
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures such as file and record management taking meeting minutes and other office procedures.

    What is this career opportunity

    We are seeking a detail oriented and proactive Labor Relations and Office Support Coordinator to join our State Office of Labor Relations team. The State Office of Labor Relations within the State Human Resources Division provides services on behalf of all executive branch agencies. As the Governors designated representatives in collective bargaining office members:

    • Negotiate the biennial pay package for state employees;

    • Negotiate collective bargaining agreements for each of the states bargaining units;
    • Assist agencies administering those agreements; and
    • Represent state government in administrative hearings and labor arbitrations.

    This position will support the Chief Labor Negotiator Labor Attorney and Senior Labor Negotiator by providing office support functions including meeting management and preparation office communications and document and record management. This position also tracks and supports collective bargaining agreement negotiations. As time permits this position will provide support functions to the State Human Resources Central HR team including website maintenance and policy and resource formatting.
