Job Summary

The Koch Internship Program(KIP) is a paid experiential learning program run by Stand Together Fellowships that offers professional development leadership training and meaningful work experience at non-profits tackling some of our nations most pressing policy challenges all over the United States. Early-career professionals including undergraduate/graduate/law students and recent graduates are encouraged to apply. Eligible candidates will be geographically located in and authorized to work in the United States through the duration of the program. The Illinois Policy Institute is seeking an Analytics Intern. The intern will work closely with thedata and operations team to run in-depth analyses uncover actionable insights and helpstakeholders make informed decisions. This is a fast-paced environment where data is oftenmessy and unstructured so strong analytical skills and a solid technical toolkit are essential.

Key Responsibilities

Extract clean and transform unstructured data into usable formats.
Conduct in-depth research and analysis to answer complex policy questions.
Create clear compelling data visualizations that communicate findings to both technicaland non-technical audiences.
Maintain high standards of data and code quality to ensure work is reproducible.
Produce clear concise reports for stakeholders and present findings in an accessibleway.
Document data sources methods and code thoroughly.

Qualifications

Proficiency in at least one programming language for data analysis (Python or R).
Experience building data visualizations in R or Python using libraries such as ggplot2matplotlib seaborn or plotly.
Experience working with messy or unstructured data.
Ability to maintain data quality and translate technical findings into clear concise reports.
Experience working with APIs and web scraping tools.
Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.

$5500 - $7500 a year

Stand Together Fellowships pays participants a stipend of either $7500 for full-time participants working approximately 32 hours per week at the partner organization or $5500 for part-time participants working approximately 24 hours per week at the partner organization. Attending the entirety of the online and on-site KIP programming is required for both full and part-time participants.
