Kindergarten Teacher ( One Year Only)

Summary:
We are seeking a kindergarten teacher to join our team at Rainier Elementary School for the 2026-2027 school year for a ONE YEAR ONLY contract. The ideal candidate will be passionate about teaching and have experience working with K-5 students. The candidate must be able to create a positive and engaging learning environment for students.

Job Details:

• 180 day contract (7 hours/day 5 days/week) plus Enrichment Days (35 hours)
• Start Date: August 31 2026

Essential Functions:

• Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among the students for whom they are responsible
• Observe and evaluate students performance behavior social development and physical health
• Prepare materials and classrooms for class activities
• Work as a team member in preparing for and implementation of the Common Core
• Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students varying needs and interests
• Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction demonstration and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe question and investigate
• Instruct students individually and in groups using various teaching methods such as lectures discussions and demonstrations

Qualifications:

• Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with proper endorsement(s) for level of instruction
• WSP-FBIbackground/fingerprint clearance required

Requirements:

• Strong skills background and extensive training in your area of endorsement
• Demonstrated proficiency in writing and oral communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to connect with students staff and community members in a mutually respectful supportive and accessible manner
• Knowledge of curriculum education code and district policies
• Knowledge of and/or experience related to the state mandated testing and assessment
• Develop modify adjust curriculum to meet the individual needs of students
• Provide age-appropriate communication with students on instructional expectations and keeps them informed of their progress in meeting those expectations
• Willingness to benefit from building supervision evaluation programs and professional development
• Manage the behavior of learners in instructional setting to ensure environment is conducive to the learning process and assist and participate in management of student behavior in other parts of the school and school grounds
• Ability to prepare students for a successful school experience
• Demonstrated sensitivity to cultural developmental religious and ethnic diversity of students staff and community
• Must be punctual and dependable able to work well and collaborate with others
• Coordinate instructional activities and collaborates with other professional staff both school and non-school based as required to maximize learning opportunities
• Follow School Board policies and procedures
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
• Ability to stand or walk for prolonged periods perform a variety of specialized tasks maintain records establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students parents other school personnel meet schedule and deadlines
