Job Summary
Teaching Assistant needed in the Education Department of a juvenile correctional facility supervising classroom students in the absence of the classroom teacher and reporting directly to the School Principal.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Take attendance monitor behavior track assignments and maintain daily records
- Guide students in completing assignments left by the classroom teacher and support classroom instruction
- Manage the classroom effectively and supervise daily student work evaluating individual knowledge achievement
- Participate in faculty and professional meetings and multidisciplinary treatment team reporting
- Follow critical incident policies to prevent injury escape or property damage
- Maintain confidentiality and operate job-related equipment
- Collaborate with other departments to enhance the student learning environment
- Develop and review clear accurate reports in compliance with departmental policies
- Build positive working relationships with students staff contractual personnel interns volunteers and community agencies
- Attend and complete all required training and certifications
- Perform related duties as assigned
Experience
- Experience working with students in an educational setting (highly desired)

- Ability to implement daily/weekly teacher lesson plans in the educators absence
- Ability to create a positive growth-oriented learning environment
- Strong oral and written communication
- Effective teamwork and ability to accept supervision/constructive feedback
- Ability to maintain and control educational department supplies equipment and tools
Eligibility & Qualifications
- High school diploma required
- Must pass all drug tests
- Must complete all required training and certifications
- Highly desired: Substitute teaching permit
