The Junior Accounting Specialist reports directly to the Director of Accounting and is responsible for processing and maintaining financial information relating to the activities of the College and Association including bank reconciliations posting journal entries reconciling the general ledger performing daily close accounts payables accounts receivables asset inventory control and depreciation finance training and other duties as required.
- Responsible for the daily financial transactions of the College and Association including accounts payable accounts receivable and the daily close process.
- Posts journal entries and reconciles general ledger accounts.
- Responsible for monthly bank reconciliations for all College bank accounts.
- Processes purchase requisitions creates purchase orders and distributes purchase orders to vendors and campus departments.
- Maintain vendor records and assists with issuing annual 1099NEC forms.
- Assists with preparing and delivering training to colleagues on various Accounting forms and processes.
- Assist with the preparation for annual independent audits of the College and Association.
- Responsible for maintaining appropriate records to document final accounting for all books of account including the general ledger cash receipts and cash disbursements. Such record keeping methods will comply with record retention requirements.
- Associates degree.
- Accounting and analytical skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel Word Google Docs/ Sheets.
- Bachelors Degree in accounting business or related field;
- Prior experience in an educational or governmental institution;
- Experience with Banner software.
In addition OPAP-covered members receive on an annual basis: 24 vacation days 12 sick days 6 personal days and 11 holidays including 4 floating addition the College is closed on the day prior to Thanksgiving and between December 26 - January 1 known as the Holiday Curtailment.
