Eligibility:

  • Noncommissioned Officers must be retired and within three years from retirement date from the Army in the grades of E-6 through E-9
  • Warrant Officers must be retired and within three years from retirement date from the army in the grades W-1 through W-5
  • Bilingual Spanish speaking preferred..

Responsibilities:

  • Army Regulation 145-2 and Cadet Command regulation 145-2 contain specific information pertaining to the roles and responsibilities within the JROTC Program

Additional information:

  • In addition to teaching in the classroom there are a number of activities that will require JROTC instructors to work outside of the regular school hours. An instructors work week could easily exceed 50 hours and may include additional weekend activities.

Minimum Instructor Pay (MIP) is the difference between official retired pay reported by the Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) and the active duty pay and allowances (excluding hazardous duty and special pays) that a JROTC instructor would receive if ordered to active duty. Active duty Pay and Allowances are based on DFAS current year Military Pay Tables and include the following:

  • Basic Pay
  • Basic Allowance for Housing
  • Cost of Living Allowance (if applicable)
  • Overseas Housing Allowance (if applicable)
  • Overseas Cost of Living Allowance (if applicable)
  • Clothing Maintenance Allowance (enlisted only)
  • Basic Allowance for Subsistence

  • Reports to: Senior Army Instructor
  • Salary: $100000-$105 000 (based on experience)
