We are a growing member-owned rural electric cooperative located just west of Indianapolis in Avon Indiana. Position Summary

The Journeyman Lineman is responsible for the construction operation replacement and maintenance of electric distribution lines structures and equipment to ensure the safe and reliable delivery of power to our members. This work includes both primary and secondary circuits on energized and de-energized lines and encompasses overhead and underground distribution systems.

The Journeyman Lineman may direct and oversee the work of Groundmen or Apprentice Linemen as needed and must adhere to all Cooperative safety policies operating procedures and technical standards. This is a bargaining unit position and subject to random drug and alcohol testing per FMCSA regulations and Cooperative policies.

Qualifications :

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Successful completion of a recognized four-year apprenticeship program required.
• Department of Labor Registered Journeyman Lineman certification required.
• Experience in electric distribution line construction operation and maintenance required.
• Electric cooperative experience preferred.
• Knowledge of the Rural Utilities Service specifications and guidelines substations switching devices transformer banks oil circuit breakers voltage regulators line fuses line currents and voltage levels.

Personal & Position Qualifications

• Valid Indiana Class A Commercial Drivers License.
• Ability to perform all aspects of electric distribution line construction operation and maintenance.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and perform the physical demands of the job.  
• Ability to operate commercial vehicles and other line equipment.
• Must meet residency requirements within one year of hire date.
• Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation and service watch schedule.
