Job Summary

POSITION:Job Coach/Paraeducator Rogers High School

LOCATION: Rogers High School
REPORTS TO: Principal and/or designee/ Director of Student Services

SCHOOL YEAR: 2026/2027

GENERAL DUTIES:In addition to the duties of a special education paraeducator the Paraeducator/Student Job Coach for Students with Disabilities will play a crucial role in supporting students with diverse abilities in their transition from high school to the workforce. The primary responsibility is to work closely with students employers and educators to facilitate successful employment outcomes for students with disabilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Associates Degree preferred High School Diploma required
  2. Job Coach certificate required (must be maintained)
  3. Teacher Assistant Certificate required
  4. Chauffeurs license required
  5. Experience working with students with disabilities preferably in a vocational or career counseling capacity.
  6. Willingness to explore multiple vocational training opportunities.
  7. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  8. Understanding of relevant laws and regulations related to employment for individuals with disabilities.
  9. Ability to collaborate with educators employers and community stakeholders.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Individualized Support
  2. Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with disabilities understanding their unique strengths challenges and career aspirations.
  3. Assist or contribute to personalized plans to enhance students employability skills considering their individual needs and goals.
  4. Career Exploration
  5. Assist students in exploring various career paths identifying potential job opportunities that align with their skills and interests.
  6. Collaborate with special education faculty and staff to integrate career exploration into individualized education plans (IEPs).
  7. Job Placement Support
  8. Build relationships with local employers to create or expand job opportunities for students with disabilities when onsite with student(s)
  9. Assist with coordinating internships work-study programs and job shadowing experiences to expose students to real-world work environments.
  10. Skills Development
  11. Collaborate with teachers and support staff to integrate skill-building activities into the curriculum.
  12. Advocacy
  13. Advocate for the inclusion and accommodation of students with disabilities in the workplace fostering an inclusive and supportive environment.
  14. Work with employers to implement reasonable accommodations that enable students to perform their job duties effectively.
  15. Monitoring Progress
  16. Regularly assess and document students progress in skill development job placement and overall career readiness.
  17. Provide feedback to students teachers and school staff on achievements and areas for improvement.
  18. Community Engagement
  19. Assist with developing partnerships with community organizations vocational rehabilitation services and disability advocacy groups to enhance support networks for students.
  20. Documentation and Reporting
  21. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress job placements and program outcomes
  22. Generate reports to demonstrate the impact of the job coaching program
  23. Paraeducator Duties: Life Skills & Classroom Support
  24. Helps students master equipment or instructional materials assigned by the teacher.
  25. Assists with personal health needs (may include but not limited to toileting feeding dressing) as required.
  26. Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected for all staff.


PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Walking stooping reaching talking lifting (10-pound minimum) hearing standing kneeling carrying keyboarding seeing sitting and driving.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Inside or outside work with and around others work alone.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

In Accordance with Council 94 CBA:

  • Pay grade 8
  • 6.5 hours per day plus 30 minute unpaid lunch
  • Hours depend on students needs but shall not exceed the hours as stated above
