Java Backend Developer

Contract Type: 6-month fixed-term engagement

Location: NYC (Hybrid at least 3 days onsite/week)

We are seeking a Senior Java Backend Developer to join a team building a strategic Application Monitoring Platform. The platform will provide real-time visibility into application health server performance process status and infrastructure resources through a centralized monitoring solution used by development and production support teams.

This role is focused on designing and developing scalable backend services responsible for collecting processing and exposing monitoring data to a modern web-based UI.

Responsibilities

• Design develop and maintain backend services using Java 21.
• Build scalable services to monitor application health server status process execution and infrastructure metrics.
• Develop APIs consumed by the Front-End UI team.
• Integrate with scheduling and monitoring tools such as AutoSys and existing enterprise platforms.
• Collaborate with Front-End developers Infrastructure DevOps and Production Support teams.
• Write clean maintainable and well-tested code.
• Participate in architecture discussions code reviews testing deployment and production support when required.
• Optimize application performance and reliability.

Qualifications :

• Bachelor degree in Computer science Engineering Finance or Quantitative finance
• 5 years of Java development experience.
• Strong expertise with Java 21.
• Experience developing backend services and REST APIs.
• Strong Linux knowledge.
• Experience with multithreading and concurrent programming.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems.
• Experience with Git and Agile methodologies.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.

Nice to Have

• Experience with monitoring or observability platforms.
• Familiarity with AutoSys or enterprise scheduling tools.
• Experience with application health monitoring.
• Exposure to KDB (not required).
• Python scripting experience.
• Financial Services experience is a plus.
