POSITION OVERVIEW

The Janitor is primarily responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and janitorial standards at the primary work location but is also available to work at any of the properties HomeRise manages on an as-needed basis. The Janitor reports to the Maintenance Supervisor.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Follow all organizational safety procedures policies and instructions provided by the Site Manager and/or Maintenance Supervisor.
• Report any significant safety concerns or physical plant problems to the propertys Front Desk Clerk or Site Manager via work order.
• Perform all janitorial duties as assigned by the Site Manager.
• Trash and Recycling rotate garbage and recycling per instructions from Maintenance Supervisor or Site Manager.
• Empty common-area trash cans.
• Clear trash chutes.
• Clear debris and maintain cleanliness of sidewalks and perimeter of site.
• Clear debris or obstacles clean up spills and ensure general cleanliness of all common areas including hallways stairways elevators lobbies community rooms community kitchens bathrooms parking lots.
• Move furniture and other items within and between sites.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Qualified individuals will have prior experience with janitorial work and/or be certified through a janitorial training program
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Office is required.
• Candidates must have a demonstrated ability to work independently be self-started self-motivated and the ability to interact with staff residents and visitors with professionalism and respect.
• The position requires the successful candidate to adhere to an ongoing cleanliness program for each building and to completely follow through with assigned tasks.
• Qualified individuals must have strong interest in doing social justice advocacy.

POSITION DETAILS

• Status: Full-Time / Non-Exempt
• Pay Rate: $26.26 per hour
• Schedule: Saturday thru Wednesday 8 AM 4 PM
• Union: This position is under the collective bargaining agreement with SEIU 1021
• Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor and/or Site Manager

Some jobs require an employee to work in hazardous environments i.e.: exposed to unpleasant and noxious fumes and odors. Also subjected but not limited to; (Forceful use of the neck/shoulder elbow/wrist and low back. Repetitive motions of the neck/shoulder elbow/wrist low back knee and foot. Awkward postures if the neck/shoulder elbow/wrist low back and knee. Static postures of the low back and knee. Contact stress in the knee(s). Pushing on and pulling operating hand/mechanical tools. Lifting carrying and lowering supplies.)

Work is performed in an office or field environment with regular exposure to water soaps cleaning products noise fumes or airborne particles working in all weather conditions. The incumbent is occasionally exposed to wet humid conditions extreme cold extreme heat and vibration.

This position requires strenuous physical work. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close distance color and peripheral vision as well as depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts. The employee occasionally works in high precarious places. The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. Ability to work in an environment in which the job is performed especially any unique conditions outside a normal office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately loud.
