What You Will Do

The Project Manager III (PM III) leads large complex and high-profile projects and programs utilizing waterfall processes or Agile processes where applicable. The PM III ensures projects project deliverables and programs are completed on time within budget and meet quality standards. This role involves strategic leadership stakeholder management vendor management and potentially leading multiple PMs for program level initiatives. The PM III will mentor junior PMs work with leadership to identify and share innovative techniques and participate in process improvement activities.

The PM III is a highly skilled and experienced project manager that provides strategic project leadership for large complex enterprise level and high-profile initiatives. The PM III transfers knowledge to the other PM levels through direct mentorship and other defined pathways. The PM III must have a mastery of the standard processes and tools used by the PMO.

Waterfall Project Delivery (when applicable)

Creates and continuously updates a Project Management Plan for each project.

Develops comprehensive project plans outlining milestones dependencies and deliverables for all phases of the project lifecycle.

Ensures that all business and technical requirements are documented validated and incorporated into project work.

Defines and sequences project activities using work breakdown structures and critical path analysis to develop a realistic master schedule.

Develops detailed schedules determines task dependencies sequences project tasks and estimates durations using project management tools and templates.

Monitors project progress against timelines proactively addressing any variances to keep projects on track.

Manages project scope by defining deliverables and following the appropriate change control process.

Monitors and controls project budgets (when needed) schedules and resource allocations to ensure successful delivery within scope and constraints.

Completes all required project documentation and closes projects in a timely manner when the projects are finished.

Agile Project Delivery (when applicable)

Leads Agile projects using Scrum or Kanban establishing clear roles sprint cycles and backlogs to promote transparency and adaptability.

Applies Agile principles to drive project success by encouraging iterative development frequent stakeholder feedback and rapid response to changing requirements.

Works with the Product Owners and Scrum teams to identify and document requirements and to develop the Product Backlog.

Facilitates Agile ceremonies including daily stand-ups sprint planning sprint reviews and retrospectives to ensure continuous improvement and team alignment.

Coaches and mentors project teams on Agile principles and best practices fostering a culture of collaboration and adaptability.

Champions continuous improvement by fostering a culture where lessons learned are quickly integrated into future iterations.

Drives backlog refinement sessions prioritizes features and tasks in partnership with Product Owners and ensures transparency across all stakeholders.

Utilizes Agile metrics to monitor progress and identify areas for optimization.

Removes impediments that block team progress and proactively addresses risks and dependencies throughout the project lifecycle.

Ensures Agile best practices are consistently applied coaching teams on effective estimation user story writing and incremental delivery to enhance overall project outcomes.

Project Leadership & Delivery

Leads enterprise-level projects using Waterfall methodologies and/or Agile (Scrum/Kanban) selecting the most appropriate approach for business needs.

Aligns project objectives and strategies with overall business goals fostering collaboration among cross-functional teams.

Creates project documentation ensuring accuracy and compliance with organizational standards.

Ensures timely completion of deliverables by proactively identifying dependencies and resolving bottlenecks.

Directs activities with vendors stakeholders and internal teams facilitating seamless communication and integration efforts to support project execution.

Creates program level plans with the workstream leaders validates the workstream project plans align with overall program timeline and creates program level reporting for leadership and steering teams.

Communication & Stakeholder Management

Creates and executes comprehensive communication plans tailored to stakeholders needs leveraging multiple channels (written verbal digital) for maximum impact.

Provides clear timely and concise updates through presentations reports and regular status meetings.

Facilitates meetings and workshops to elicit requirements manage expectations and resolve conflicts or issues as they arise.

Builds and maintains productive relationships with team members executives clients and external partners.

Identifies key stakeholders and manages their engagement throughout each project phase.

Risk & Issue Management

Identifies captures and monitors project risks and issues throughout the project lifecycle.

Manages risk and issue registers and develops mitigation strategies.

Assesses the likelihood and impact of risks and issues regularly updating stakeholders on status and changes.

Tracks and escalates major issues as necessary facilitating prompt resolution and minimizing project disruption.

Mentorship & Innovation

Mentors and coaches junior project managers sharing best practices tools and templates.

Leads and participates in process improvement initiatives identifying opportunities for increased efficiency and quality.

Stays abreast of the latest industry trends certifications and technologies sharing relevant knowledge with the team.

Fosters a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration within the project management office (PMO).

Facilitates learning sessions and knowledge sharing forums to promote professional development.

Resource & Time Management

Identifies required resources working with the resource managers from the necessary teams to properly deliver the projects.

Tracks resource utilization and availability adjusting resource needs to address bottlenecks and maximize efficiency.

Collaborates with resource managers to resolve resource conflicts and negotiate priorities.

Manages the time approval process and tracks resource utilization against the project plan.

Vendor Management

Establishes and maintains strong vendor relationships ensuring vendor resources are engaged at the proper time(s) to keep the projects on schedule.

Monitors vendor performance and enforces expectations and team culture.

Determine with the project team and stakeholders the appropriate response action for identified risks and creates the action plans for the agreed upon response

Provide complete and concise project communications to project team stakeholders and executives

Develop project communication plans that serve as a roadmap to drive project communications problem escalations decision making and executive summary

Drive projects to completion leveraging an Agile methodology

Possess ability to lead Kanban based projects

Recognize which projects should utilize Kanban versus Scrum techniques
