Job Summary
An IT Production Support Specialist is responsible for maintaining and supporting live (production) systems and applications. This role ensures that business-critical systems run smoothly with minimal downtime quickly resolving incidents and preventing future issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor production systems applications and services
- Respond to incidents outages and system alerts
- Troubleshoot and resolve application database and infrastructure issues
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring problems
- Support deployments releases and system changes
- Work with developers and DevOps teams to fix bugs
- Maintain logs dashboards and system documentation
- Ensure system stability uptime and performance
Required Skills
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Knowledge of operating systems (Linux/Windows)
- Basic networking (TCP/IP DNS)
- Experience with monitoring tools (Splunk Nagios Datadog)
- Understanding of databases (SQL queries basic tuning)
- Scripting (Shell Python PowerShell)
- Familiarity with ITIL processes (incident problem change management)
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in IT Computer Science or related field
- Certifications such as:
- ITIL Foundation
- CompTIA Network / Security
- Cloud certifications (AWS Azure)
- Experience with cloud or SaaS environments
