LOCATION: History Center - 345 W Kellogg Blvd. St. Paul MN 55102
COMPENSATION: Typical starting salary$17.02 hourly
HOURS: This is a part-time temporary position from approximately January 19 2027 to May 23 2027. A part-time intern must be available to work 15 hours per week. This position offers a flexible work schedule coordinated with the interns school schedule and operational needs. Preferred working hours are 3-5 hour shifts M-F between 9am and 5pm. The internship includes some evening and weekend shifts which will be scheduled in advance with the intern.

SEMINAR EVENTS: Interns are required to participate in three in-person seminars focused on professional development learning how cultural organizations operate and building a network of industry professionals. At the end of the semester interns complete a final presentation to share their work.

DESCRIPTION:This position will support the Volunteer Services team in the recruitment onboarding training support and recognition of volunteers throughout the MNHS sites. This position will support the implementation and training of both staff and volunteers on our new Volunteer Management system. Spring is when we do a lot of recruitment for summer roles at sites - the intern will participate in tabling recruitment events in the community.RESPONSIBILITIES: 1) Provide a high level of customer service to both volunteers and staff in other departments ensuring consistent communication and relationship building; 2) Support the Volunteer Services team in rolling out a new volunteer management system including system set up staff training and volunteer training at various sites; 3) Assist with volunteer recruitment and placement including posting opportunities sending recruitment emails tabling at community events putting on information sessions at sites and creating and implementing an in person and online volunteer orientation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student or have graduated within the past 12 months at the time of application.
Ideal candidates might be currently pursuing or a graduate with a degree in the following areas: History Nonprofit Management Communications Human Resources Sociology Psychology Event management.
Exceptional interpersonal skills with a welcoming customer-focused attitude toward volunteers staff and community members.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and comfort adapting to or learning new software systems.
High energy and confidence presenting or tabling at community recruitment events and information sessions.
