EXPECTED DURATION:12 weeks (part-time; up to 21 hours/week)

PAY RATE:$13.75/hour

LOCATION: Were pleased to consider applicants who will be physically located in and who will have a local address in Virginia Maryland or the District of Columbia for the duration of their Foundation does not offer fully remote work for any positions. Applicants who reside in any other state would be required to be physically located in and provide a local address in Virginia Maryland or the District of Columbia prior to starting work for Wolf Trap applicant cannot be onsite on Tuesdays and Wednesdays an onsite schedule should be discussed if contacted for an interview.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:The Editorial Content Intern supports the Communications & Marketing team in bringing Wolf Traps story to life through strategic storytelling and compelling content that engages audiences and promotes world-class performances. This intern will write edit and proofread editorial content for print and digital platforms helping to shape communications that inspire audiences and reach thousands of concertgoers each year.

  • Assist with collecting editing and proofreading artist biographies for print and digital program books and publications.
  • Research write and edit content pieces for program books Wolf Traps News & Stories site Wolf Trap Operas Insider Guide and other public communications.
  • Craft compelling performance copy to promote select shows.
  • Assist with building digital program book pages on Wolf Traps website.
  • Provide support for the program book and publication review processes.
  • Brainstorm and contribute new content ideas that share Wolf Traps story with diverse audiences.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A strong creative writer with an interest in the performing arts
  • Exceptional copyediting skills and a sharp attention to detail
  • Excellent research and organizational abilities
  • Familiarity with AP Style
  • Journalism public relations and communication majors are preferred; however great writing samples will make you stand out no matter your focus.

Qualifications

PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY:

  • Undergraduate students (must have completed at least1 year of undergraduate study)
  • Graduate students
  • Recent graduates (up to 2 years out of school)
  • Career-changers currently enrolled in a degree program
  • International students (J-1 or F-1 Visa required)
  • Must be physically located in and have a local address in Virginia Maryland or the District of Columbia for the duration of their employment

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 75 percent of the time
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office equipment (i.e. calculator copier printer etc.)
  • Occasionally required to walk stoop bend and reach with arms
  • Lift/move up to 10 pounds infrequently
