Job Summary
ABOUT THE ROLE
A sophisticated New York litigation practice is seeking a mid-level associate to handle complex insurance and liability matters for insurers businesses and other institutional clients. This is designed for a defense attorney who wants to move beyond high-volume case processing and develop stronger litigation skills through substantive responsibility for their own matters. Associates handle cases from initial evaluation through resolution with opportunities for depositions motion practice court appearances direct client communication and trial preparation. Compensation ranges from $160000-$225000 depending on experience.
WHAT YOULL DO
- Defend insurers businesses and other clients in complex liability and insurance-related litigation
- Manage matters from initial case assessment and pleadings through discovery dispositive motions settlement and trial preparation
- Take and defend depositions conduct witness interviews and develop factual and expert discovery
- Draft and argue substantive motions and appear for conferences hearings mediations and other proceedings
- Work directly with clients on case strategy exposure analysis reporting and resolution
- Take increasing ownership of a litigation caseload while working closely with experienced trial attorneys on higher-exposure matters
WHAT WERE LOOKING FOR
- J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to the New York Bar
- 37 years of insurance defense complex liability coverage or related litigation experience
- Experience handling discovery depositions motion practice and substantive case management
- Strong legal research writing analytical and oral advocacy skills
- Experience with complex or higher-exposure matters is preferred
- Ability to independently manage matters while maintaining strong client communication and organizational discipline
