MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
We are seeking a candidate with the following minimum qualifications:
Masters degree in education from a nationally or regionally accredited institution college or university with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Education or a masters degree in a related teaching discipline with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Education
Minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience in a P12 or postsecondary setting
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: (In addition to the minimum qualifications)
The ideal candidate will possess the following preferred qualifications:
Doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in Education or a closely related field
Minimum of five (5) years of teaching experience in a P12 or postsecondary setting
Experience in a supervisory or leadership role in education or a related field
Teaching experience in a P12 educational setting
Experience preparing paraprofessionals future teachers or teaching in a postsecondary setting
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides instruction and supports student success in the Associate of Science in Education program preparing students for paraprofessional roles in P12 educational settings and future study in education. Responsibilities include planning and teaching courses maintaining student records and providing academic support with an emphasis on teaching and learning diversity in educational contexts and math and science concepts for elementary and middle grades.
Teach courses within the Associate of Science in Education program including day evening and online classes as assigned
Teach dual enrollment courses as assigned
Prepare lesson plans and instructional materials for classroom and online instruction
Develop and maintain course curriculum syllabi program goals and learning objectives aligned with program standards and transfer requirements
Provide instruction in foundational education topics including teaching and learning diversity in educational contexts and mathematics and science concepts for elementary and middle grades
Evaluate student progress in achieving course and program objectives
Assess student learning outcomes and support continuous program improvement efforts
Provide academic support advising and guidance to students pursuing paraprofessional roles and further study in education
Collaborate with faculty academic leadership and transfer institutions to support program alignment and student success
Participate in program review advisory committee meetings and institutional initiatives
Participate in professional development and maintain current knowledge of best practices in education
Participate in departmental college and state faculty meetings
Perform other duties and tasks as assigned
COMPETENCIES:
To excel in this role you should possess the following competencies:
Demonstrated knowledge of teaching and learning principles including instructional strategies appropriate for diverse learners
Knowledge of P12 educational systems including the role of paraprofessionals in educational settings
Familiarity with P12 expectations and standards including those of the Georgia Professional Standards
Commission (PSC) and Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE)
Ability to integrate mathematics and science concepts appropriate for elementary and middle grades instruction
Understanding of sociocultural factors and diversity in educational contexts
Ability to develop and assess student learning outcomes and use data to inform instruction
Knowledge of curriculum development and alignment with program standards and transfer requirements
Ability to support student success through advising communication and engagement
Strong organizational communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to collaborate with faculty academic leadership and external partners
Commitment to professional development and continuous improvement
Knowledge of institutional policies and procedures including compliance with TCSG and SACSCOC
requirements
SALARY:
Salary will be commensurate with education and work experience. Additional benefits include paid state holidays paid annual and sick leave and participation in the State of Georgia Flexible Benefits Program.
