Job Summary

Job Summary/Basic Function:

Position is responsible for IT operations within a given department including management of computer lab email server web server file servers research instrumentation IT computer hardware and software purchase management and supervision of student employees. This position advises the department chair on all IT related issues academic issues tangential to department goals involving IT and advises/assists all faculty and staff on IT needs.

Department Overview:

Learning Technology Solutions (LTS) provides coordination management and advanced technical support for instructional technology.

Working Location: This position requires the candidate to live in Idaho or be willing to relocate if hired.

Level Scope:

Entry-level professional with limited or no prior experience to contribute on a project or work team. Incumbent learns to use professional concepts to resolve problems of limited scope and complexity under close supervision while achieving day-to-day objectives. Works on developmental assignments that are initially routine in nature requiring limited judgment and decision making. This level is typically focused on self development. Requires theoretical knowledge through specific education and training.

Essential Functions:

60% of the time the Instructional Technologist 1 must:

Consult with instructors designers and other users to determine appropriate and effective solutions using instructional technologies.
Resolve escalated issues and coordinate with Tier 1 (Helpdesk) application administrators and vendors as appropriate to ensure timely and successful resolution.
Play a lead role in selecting planning and releasing new tools and features.
Analyzes and Interprets data to improve the use management or delivery of technical solutions.
Configure roles and permission settings for instructional technologies.
Manage interface design and display settings including coordinating with Marketing and Communication.
Manage test and deploy features and services.
Coordinate with vendors or other IT units to identify patches hotfixes etc. and participate in the testing and communication of fixes.
Play a lead role in exploration communication and testing of upgrades new features and new versions.
Document internal processes policies and procedures. Create custom documentation for internal audiences (sub-administrators eCampus Center etc.).
Develop effective and efficient workflows both internally and for end users.
Coordinate with other stakeholders (OIT Operations HR eCampus Center users committees) to ensure there is broad input involvement and endorsement of changes.
Conduct workshops and training sessions about instructional technology.
Participate in committees and governance.
May supervise Learning Technology Assistant; student employee position.

35% of the time the Instructional Technologist 1 must:

  • Interpret learning technology trends in data visualization and dashboard utilization to identify opportunities for enhanced tool functionality improved user adoption and alignment with institutional effectiveness goals.

5% of the time the Instructional Technologist 1 must:

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge Skills Abilities:

  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft O/S and applications Apple O/S and applications and Linux/Unix.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) interpersonal organizational and time management skills with ability to take ownership and complete assigned tasks.
  • Analytical and detail oriented with excellent problem solving skills and with the ability to multitask.

MinimumQualifications:

Bachelors degree or equivalent professional experience. Prefer degree concentration in Computer Information Systems Management Information Systems or Computer Science. Some positions may require a bachelors degree or equivalent in department subject matter including equipment/instrumental/lab experience.

Salary and Benefits:

Starting salary is $50065.60 annually and is commensurate with State University provides a best-in-classbenefits package including (but not limited to):
