40 Hours Per Week Student Calendar
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent;
60 credit hours in an accredited university/college or an Associates Degree preferred;
Experience working with early elementary students with special needs preferred;
Bilingual skills are preferred.
Duties/Skills/Qualifications:
Ability to assist with planning development and implementation of instructional behavioral and therapeutic activities;
Participate as a member of staff teams addressing the educational process of students with disabilities;
Assist with maintaining a physical classroom environment that is conductive to the learning process;
Ability to make effective use of instruction materials and demonstrated effective methods of instruction to ensure that the individual student performance levels needs and abilities are addressed;
Ability to exercise behavior management and maintain control of students assigned to his/her care;
Ability to assist the teacher with classroom activities outside of classroom instruction;
High level of communication and organizational skills;
Demonstrated excellent attendance and punctuality;
All other duties as assigned by the classroom teacher and administrator;
Ability to relate and work effectively with parents staff students and the public in a multicultural and multiracial community;
Knowledge and awareness of own cultural identity and how this influences behavior and desire to learn about the cultural identity of others;
Ability to establish and nurture an environment that promotes cultural competence and equitable treatment of staff students and patrons of the District;
Ability to recognize that each person is a unique individual even as we celebrate their group cultural heritage.
