OVERVIEW:

Established by Congress in 1974 the Legal Services Corporation (LSC) is the countrys single largest funder of civil legal aid for low-income Americans. LSC currently funds 129 independent legal aid offices nationwide. LSCs mission is to promote equal access to justice and provide grants for high-quality civil legal assistance to low-income Americans.

The Office of Training and Technical Assistance (OTTA) supports LSC grantees by delivering high-quality training programs technical assistanceresources and capacity-building initiatives. OTTA works collaboratively across LSC offices to strengthen professional development improve service delivery and promote best practices in legal aid.

The internships are based in Washington DC and will require working from an office in DC in accordance with LSCs hybrid work model. The successful candidates must live in the DC metropolitan area for the duration of the internship


BASIC FUNCTION:

The primary objectives of this internship are for the intern to:

  • Strengthen training technical and project management skills;
  • Learn best practices in adult learning and instructional design;
  • Build skills in organizing training materials images templates and other visual assets;
  • Strengthen time management and effective professional behaviors while working on multiple time-sensitive projects;
  • Gain hands-on experience supporting OTTAs learning platforms digital content and resource organization

The internship is expected to run from September through December 2026. Interns will work part-time up to 28 hours per week during the fall.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The interns principal duties and responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with learning and development content creation by compiling organizing and updating training content. This may include formatting materials adding or adjusting hyperlinks and making graphic design accessibility or language-related changes.
  • Assisting with curating organizing and updating materials for the LSC website social media accounts and other OTTA communication platforms.
  • Supporting the OTTA team in planning and preparing trainings for varied audiences including grantee staff in service and administrative roles Rural Summer Legal Corps Fellows and trainings developed in partnership with the Offices of Compliance and Enforcement Program Performance or Data Governance and Analysis. Support may range from gathering and compiling notes to script development recording and video editing.
  • Conducting independent research on topics such as learning and development trends and innovative practices recent grantee innovations in service delivery or organizational administration and learning and development tools technologies and resources that may support OTTAs work.
  • Assisting team members with the content development process which may include testing content in development organizing data taking notes during stakeholder meetings gathering information tracking follow-up items and completing other related tasks.
  • Supporting the review organization and maintenance of OTTAs digital content and resources across systems such as the Learning Management System Drupal Box Smartsheet and other department platforms. This may include updating file names descriptions keywords tags course information hyperlinks and other content details.
  • Assisting with identifying cataloging tagging and organizing images presentation materials and other visual assets. This may include helping develop reusable slide templates resource guides demonstrations or instructions to make materials easier for OTTA staff to locate and use.
  • Using available technology and tools including ChatGPT when appropriate and consistent with team guidance to support research content organization presentation development and workflow improvements.
  • Assisting with other OTTA projects and duties as assigned.

  • Interest or background in training adult learning or instructional design preferred
  • Bonus: Experience with Drupal Canva Adobe Creative Cloud or social media content creation!


HOURLY RATE:

This position pays $20 to $22 per hour based on your education level and internship status.
