About the Position:

Pelham Elementary School in partnership with The New England Center for Children (NECC) are hiring for an Instructional Assistant who will work with children who have intensive special needs. This individual will be able to understand and assist with instruction and behavior management that meets the specific needs of students as outlined within their Duties and Responsibilities of this position includes:

Daily:

  1. Ensures the safety of all students
  2. Provides direct educational services for the duration of the school day
  3. Incorporates specific educational objectives into context of ongoing activities (if appropriate)
  4. Creates opportunities for generalization and maintenance of skills
  5. Collects data on targeted skills and enters data into the electronic database (ACE)
  6. Communicates with parents of their primary student via home log
  7. Relays parent information to Lead Teacher NECC Clinical Supervisor and/or Administrator
  8. Maintains student records in a neat and orderly manner
  9. Maintains student specific materials/reinforcers
  10. Performs other duties as assigned by the Lead Classroom Teacher NECC Clinical Supervisor and/or Administrator
  11. Communicates any student-specific concerns to the Lead Teacher
  12. Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality that is expected of a fully certified teacher

Weekly:

  1. Graphs/Sums student data
  2. Participates in school-based and/or partner classroom-based program meetings/trainings
  3. Collaborate with general educators and specialty service providers as needed for student success
  4. Modifies curriculum and/or curriculum materials to assist with student progress

Monthly:

  1. Prepares for and meets with Lead Teacher and NECC Clinical Supervisor for MBO (management by objective) meeting for case student
  2. Reviews progress on IEP goals

Quarterly:

  1. Assists with gathering information for Progress Reports
  2. Assists with keeping case students guidelines updated

Yearly:

  1. Contributes to the development of the IEP/End of Year Reports
  2. Completes other assessments as prescribed by the Lead Teacher

Pelham Elementary School in partnership with The New England Center for Children (NECC) is seeking a dynamic candidate for a full time intensive instructional assistant position to work with children with intensive special needs. This position is a school year position and includes the Extended School Year (ESY).

Qualifications:

    • Bachelors degree preferred
    • Previous special education experience preferred
    • Interest in working with children in special education
    • Strong communication and teamwork skills
    • Completion of NECC training including CALM safety and de-escalation procedures
