Job Summary

Requirements / Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent and 48 units of college level coursework or associates degree or verification of meeting NCLB requirements. Ability to read write and speak at a level sufficient to fulfill the assigned duties. Ability to communicate with and effectively supervise students. Ability to accept directions and carry out oral and written instructions. Ability to maintain a cooperative working relationship with Description of Position: Assist and train students in the maintenance of personal needs including feeding combing hair and dressing appropriately. Provide physical assistance to students who cannot care for themselves including feeding diapering turning and physical movement. Assist students with personal hygiene; wash hands and faces; toilet students and change diapers and clothing as needed. Prepare students for mainstreamed classes according to established procedures. Provide instruction/assistance to severely handicapped students in social self-help and community skills. Assist students on and off the bus; push wheelchairs and lift students as needed. Tutor individual or small groups of severely handicapped students reinforcing instruction as directed by the teacher; monitor and oversee student drills practices and related activities.
