Instructional Aide-Paraprofessional Substitute Pool

DEFINITIONThe Instructional Aide as a member of the core education team works under the supervision of the vice principal and core Classroom Teacher. Day-to-day responsibilities may include: providing instructional assistance guiding additional practice opportunities re-teaching designated skills and supervising students in school have 48 units of college credit or obtained an Associate degree (preferably in a related field)Highly motivated flexible and non-judgmental individual who is eager to learnInterpersonal skills necessary to work cooperatively and effectively with students and adultsExperience working with children ages four to ten and families in rural areasAbility to read write and speak English; Fluent Spanish preferredAbility to communicate effectively with students and adults of various cultural backgroundsAble to carry out instructions work independently and be self-motivatedMAJOR POSITION RESPONSIBILITIESImplement school policies and proceduresDiscuss assigned duties with classroom teachers in order to coordinate instructional effortsReinforce educational concepts to individuals or groups of students using instructional objectives and lessons developed by the classroom teacherTutor and assist children individually or in small groups in order to help them master assignments and to reinforce learning concepts presented by creativity flexibility and perseverance in dealing with challenging learning behavioral and classroom extra assistance to students with special educational or behavioral needsAbility to supervise students appropriately and support the District Positive Behavior Intervention and Support System
