THE WORK:
Youll perform independent design assurance reviews of electrical engineering deliverables prepared by the EoR OEMs and major equipment suppliers for utility-scale CCGT projects.
Youll review one-line diagrams three-line diagrams electrical equipment specifications load lists cable schedules grounding designs raceway layouts protection and control schemes relay settings/coordination studies short-circuit studies load-flow studies arc-flash studies equipment layouts vendor drawings and other electrical deliverables.
Youll provide technical oversight of major plant electrical systems and interfaces including generators isolated-phase bus generator step-up transformers unit auxiliary and station service transformers medium- and low-voltage switchgear motor control centers large motors variable-frequency drives DC systems UPS systems emergency/backup power grounding lightning protection lighting raceway cable systems and plant electrical balance of plant.
Youll evaluate interfaces among gas turbine and steam turbine generators OEM electrical packages plant auxiliary systems the switchyard/interconnection protection systems excitation systems synchronization systems and plant DCS/I&C systems.
Youll review electrical system capacity redundancy reliability equipment ratings auxiliary-load assumptions and design margins to help ensure alignment with plant operating requirements and performance objectives.
Youll review RFIs technical queries design deviations field change notices and proposed scope changes and provide owner-side recommendations regarding technical acceptability electrical safety reliability cost/schedule implications and required corrective actions.
Youll review NCRs and electrical installation/quality issues evaluate EoR or contractor dispositions and support mitigation of cable termination grounding equipment testing protection and installation deficiencies.
Youll support constructability and installation reviews including cable routing raceway congestion equipment access grounding continuity hazardous-area requirements where applicable separation requirements equipment maintainability and temporary/permanent power sequencing.
Youll support MOC by evaluating electrical scope changes and identifying impacts to system studies equipment ratings protection settings drawings cable schedules construction work packages energization plans costs and schedule.
Youll support electrical system turnover energization commissioning synchronization startup and performance testing by reviewing test procedures system boundaries energization prerequisites relay/protection testing OEM requirements punch items and readiness documentation.
Youll coordinate closely with mechanical civil/structural I&C construction commissioning project controls commercial and operations teams to resolve multidisciplinary interface issues.
Youll document design assurance findings maintain technical issue/action logs support project risk management and communicate material electrical risks and recommendations to project leadership.
Youll promote electrical safety by design and identify conditions that could affect personnel safety equipment protection plant reliability operability maintainability or grid/interconnection performance.
  • Onsite at client site: The work location for this role is onsite in St. Louis Missouri with our clients and project partners to enable delivery and cultivate strong client relationships.
HERES WHAT YOULL NEED:
Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline
8 years of electrical engineering experience supporting large capital projects in power generation or process industries such as oil & gas LNG refining chemicals petrochemicals or similar facilities
Demonstrated experience reviewing electrical engineering designs for large industrial facilities through engineering procurement construction energization and/or commissioning phases
Strong working knowledge of medium- and low-voltage power distribution transformers switchgear motors grounding protection and control DC/UPS systems cable/raceway systems and electrical equipment installation and testing
Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards such as NFPA 70/NEC NFPA 70E IEEE ANSI NEMA and other standards relevant to utility-scale power generation
Ability to read and critically evaluate one-lines wiring/control diagrams protection schemes equipment specifications electrical studies vendor drawings and engineering change documentation
Demonstrated ability to evaluate technical problems develop practical recommendations and communicate effectively with EoR engineers contractors OEMs construction personnel commissioning teams and client stakeholders
Ability to perform field walkdowns/observations on foot across active construction areas and moderate to rough terrain and to comply with project PPE and site safety requirements
BONUS POINTS TO HAVE:
Direct engineering design assurance construction or commissioning experience on utility-scale combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) or simple-cycle gas generation projects
Experience working in an Owners Engineer Owners Representative EPCM or independent design assurance role
Experience reviewing Engineer of Record (EoR) deliverables and managing technical interfaces across OEMs EPC contractors construction contractors and owner teams
Experience with projects executed under EPC EPCM multi-prime or owner-managed contracting models
Experience supporting constructability reviews system turnover commissioning startup and operational readiness
Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification as applicable
$150000 - $190000 a year
Compensation at Accenture varies depending on a wide array of factors which may include but are not limited to the specific office location role skill set and level of experience.
