About the Position:
This position is with the Department of Public Works at Fort Irwin CA.
- Provide first-line of assistance for users on hardware and software issues.
- Assist management in oversight and funding coordination for all computer requirements.
- Set up and maintain automated system consisting of the engineering history for each facility.
- Reviews initial specifications and engineering computations on new construction for technical errors.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A secret with a Tier 3 moderate risk background is required throughout the appointment.
- This position requires the incumbent to maintain A Certification. Incumbent must obtain the A Certification within 6 months of appointment.
- In accordance with DoDM 8140.03 the employee must obtain and maintain the following Cyber work roles: 1) Foundation qualification in 9 months 2) Resident qualification in 12 months 3) 20hours of Professional Development (CPD) per work role code.

In order to qualify you must meet the experience or education requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience:
Have one year of specialized experience which includes the following. 1) provide research and information to analyze difficult and complex problems reported by computer users for issues such as specific software applications or operating systems; 2) Assist the director in managing the organizations computer processes or resources; and 3) visit job sites to collect data such as engineering specifications pertaining to various facilities or associate utility systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09)
OR
Have successfully completed a Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge skills and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position such as Major study-computer science information science information systems management mathematics statistics operations research or engineering or course work that required the development or adaptation of computer programs and systems and provided knowledge equivalent to a major in the computer field. OR
Have specialized experience as described in A but less than one year; and I have at least two years of graduate education as described in B but less than the required three years. I have computed the percentage of the requirements that I meet and the total is at least 100% (To compute the percentage divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.). (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-9).
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
