Job Summary
The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) is the Nations risk advisor working with partners to defend against todays threats and collaborating with industry to build a more secure and resilient infrastructure for the future.
The official title of this position is IT Cybersecurity Specialist (INFOSEC) GS-2210-7/9.
Typical work assignments at the full performance level include but are not limited to:
- Managing information technology projects.
- Consulting with customers to assess needs and convert them into technical solutions.
- Creating and updating cybersecurity plans strategies and policies to align with organizational goals and compliance requirements.
- Accountability for safeguarding confidentiality integrity and availability of systems networks and data by planning analyzing developing implementing maintaining and improving information systems security programs policies procedures and tools.
- You must be a U.S. citizen.

- This position may be designated as essential personnel. - This position has been identified as a drug testing designated position (TDP) for purposes of the CISAs Drug-Free Workplace Program. REQUIRED COMPETENCIES: Experience must be Information Technology (IT)-related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific intensive training (for example IT certification) as appropriate. You must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the required competencies listed below and must meet or exceed the minimum proficiency level established for each by grade level. You qualify at the GS-07 grade level if you have:

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: In addition to meeting the qualification requirement listed above you must have at least one year of specialized experience at the next lower GS-grade level (or equivalent). Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular competencies/knowledge skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Such experience is typically gained in the IT field or through the performance of work where the primary concern is IT.
You qualify at the GS-07 grade level if you have:
EXPERIENCE: At least one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-05 grade level (or equivalent) performing at least two (2) of the following duties:
- Developing and updating risk/compliance tracking methods (e.g. spreadsheets/dashboards); or
- Providing guidance to customers about applicability of information systems to meet business needs; or
- Providing ongoing problem-solving support of information systems.
EXPERIENCE: At least one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-07 grade level (or equivalent) performing at least two (2) of the following duties:
- Supporting compliance of automated information system security protocols; or
- Conducting risk assessments of installed information systems to identify protection needs of activities; or
- Developing assessments of new system designs methodologies to improve software quality.
Time-in-Grade Requirements: Under competitive merit promotion procedures any individual who is currently holding or who has held within the previous 52 weeks a General Schedule (GS) position under a non-temporary appointment in the competitive or excepted service must meet time-in-grade requirements (have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade of the grade for which you are applying). NOTE: Current or former GS federal civilian employees within the previous 52 weeks applying for a position under the Veterans Employment Opportunities Act (VEOA) must meet time-in-grade requirements.
