Job Summary
The Medical Office Assistant is responsible for performing a variety of clerical and administrative tasks in a medical office clinic or hospital setting. They help manage patient intake schedule appointments maintain medical records process billing and insurance claims and provide general office support. MOAs act as a liaison between patients healthcare providers and other medical staff ensuring an organized efficient and welcoming environment for patients.
Patient Scheduling and Communication:
- Answer phones take messages and schedule patient appointments.
- Confirm appointments and follow up on patient reminders.
- Greet patients upon arrival and check them in for appointments.
Medical Records Management:
- Maintain and update patient medical records ensuring they are accurate and up to date.
- Ensure confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Billing and Insurance:
- Process insurance claims and verify patient insurance information.
- Prepare billing statements and assist patients with understanding their financial responsibilities.
- Assist with coding and submitting claims for reimbursement.
Office and Administrative Support:
- Handle office supplies and equipment maintenance.
- Perform general clerical duties such as filing faxing and photocopying.
- Ensure office forms and documents are organized and up-to-date.
Patient Care Assistance (Non-clinical):
- Prepare patients for examination by taking basic medical histories recording vital signs or assisting with basic clinical tasks.
- Relay physician instructions to patients and answer any questions they may have.
Compensation:
Hourly Range -$15.00-$22.50
Incentives:
Eligible for evening/night weekend shift incentive based on company policies and applicable job codes. Additional details will be provided during the interview process.
Bonus:
Potential for a performance-based bonus subject to eligibility criteria and achievement of defined metrics. Details regarding bonus eligibility and performance goals will be provided during the interview process or upon hire.
