Job Duties
The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is seeking a full-time ID Review Specialist. This is a technical role within a high-volume regulatory unit that focuses on verifying identity documents (e.g. Permanent Resident Cards I-797 form foreign passports with U.S. visas etc.) to determine applicants eligibility for drivers licenses and ID cards. This position makes decisions about exceptions to document requirements and provides guidance to DMV staff and customers. This position requires a high level of expertise in DMV policies state and federal laws and document verification procedures.
Responsibilities Include:
Reviewing and verifying identity legal presence Social Security and residency documents for issuing drivers licenses and ID cards ensuring compliance with Virginia and federal regulations
Assessing customer requests for exceptions to identity document requirements ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations
Clearly communicating document requirements regulatory updates and DMV policies to internal stakeholders enabling effective processing and compliance
Providing guidance to DMV customer service centers assisting with complex inquiries related to document verification and exceptions
Participating in and complete mandatory DMV training programs including fraud detection and policy updates to maintain expertise in document verification and compliance
This position will report in-person to our Headquarters Office in Richmond with limited telework options available after the initial 6-month training period.

Minimum Qualifications
Ability to research interpret and apply laws and regulations and to analyze documents for authenticity and compliance
Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with internal staff customers and federal agencies
Ability to resolve document discrepancies and eligibility issues within a regulatory framework
Proficient in Microsoft Office for managing data and reporting
Experience addressing customer issues professionally while ensuring compliance with policies and legal requirements
Additional Considerations
Experience working in a governmental or public-facing regulatory environment
Experience using DMV systems (CSS OnBase)
Experience in processing and verifying immigration-related documents
