MalaceHR is seeking an experienced HVAC Technician to support the maintenance repair and installation of critical HVAC systems within a regulated industrial/commercial laboratory environment (vivarium setting). This role is responsible for ensuring optimal environmental conditions equipment reliability and operational efficiency across the facility.
The ideal candidate will have strong commercial or industrial HVAC experience excellent troubleshooting abilities and experience working with complex mechanical systems in mission-critical environments.

Key Responsibilities
HVAC Systems Maintenance & Repair
Maintain and service air handling equipment air filtration systems differential pressure (DP) monitoring systems and air balancing equipment
Service refrigeration systems including:
Multi-circuit refrigeration systems
DX systems
Process chillers
Comfort chillers
Maintain refrigerants in compliance with EPA and applicable regulatory requirements including accurate inventory and usage records
System Operations & Monitoring
Monitor operate and adjust:
Heat exchangers
Centrifugal chillers
Cooling towers
VAV systems
HVAC controls
Emergency backup systems
Hot water systems
Maintain refrigeration chilled water and air conditioning systems
Service and repair boilers pumps piping valves filters ventilation equipment and hot water heaters
Record equipment readings and perform adjustments to maintain peak system performance
Technical Troubleshooting & Installation
Diagnose equipment malfunctions and implement corrective repairs
Install and repair plumbing piping and tubing systems
Wire single-phase and three-phase motors
Run conduit and pull wiring for machinery and operating equipment
Install rebuild and maintain:
Pumps
Motors
Air compressors
Heat exchangers
Replace motor bearings pump seals and maintain associated controls and piping systems
Install repair and maintain electrical controls switching devices and motor control systems
Preventive Maintenance & Facility Support
Troubleshoot and maintain Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) for HVAC equipment and pumps
Perform preventive maintenance on facility mechanical systems
Complete general facility maintenance tasks including:
Sheetrock repair
Patching and painting
Caulking
Lock repairs
Minor piping repairs
Safely operate HVAC tools testing equipment and maintenance machinery
Qualifications
58 years of HVAC experience in commercial or industrial environments
Experience working in regulated laboratory or vivarium environments preferred
Strong knowledge of HVAC mechanical and electrical systems
EPA Refrigerant Certification required
HVAC certification preferred
BAS (Building Automation Systems) experience is highly preferred
Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities
Ability to maintain detailed maintenance records and documentation
Experience with preventive maintenance programs and facility operations
