Goddard Public Schools is seeking a skilled and dependable HVAC Technician to join our Facilities & Maintenance team. This position is responsible for installing maintaining troubleshooting and repairing heating ventilation air conditioning and refrigeration systems throughout the districts schools and support facilities. The ideal candidate is committed to providing a safe comfortable learning environment for students and staff while delivering excellent customer service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Inspect maintain troubleshoot and repair HVAC and refrigeration systems.
Perform preventive maintenance on district HVAC equipment.
Diagnose electrical mechanical and control system issues.
Install and replace HVAC components as needed.
Monitor and maintain building automation and control systems.
Respond promptly to maintenance work orders and emergency service calls.
Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
Ensure compliance with applicable safety regulations and building codes.
Assist with other building maintenance tasks as assigned.
Work collaboratively with maintenance staff school administrators and vendors.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required.
Technical training or certification in HVAC preferred.
EPA Section 608 Certification required (or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe).
Minimum of 3 years of commercial HVAC maintenance experience preferred.
Knowledge of HVAC systems electrical controls refrigeration boilers chillers and air handling equipment.
Ability to read blueprints wiring diagrams and technical manuals.
Valid Kansas drivers license with an acceptable driving record.
Ability to successfully pass required background checks.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Working knowledge of building automation systems.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work independently.
Basic computer skills for work order management.
Commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
Frequent standing walking climbing ladders kneeling bending and working in confined spaces.
Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Ability to work at heights and in mechanical rooms.
