Job Title:Field HVAC Superintendent
Job Location: Columbia SC
Job Summary:The Field HVAC Superintendent oversees the daily operations of HVAC field projects ensuring work is completed safely on time and within budget. This role is responsible for supervising field crews coordinating with project managers and maintaining high standards of quality and customer satisfaction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate HVAC field installation crews across multiple job sites.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations company policies and project specifications.
- Review project plans and specifications to determine work schedules staffing needs and material requirements.
- Monitor progress and provide daily updates to project managers and stakeholders.
- Conduct site inspections to ensure quality control and resolve any issues that arise.
- Train and mentor field technicians and foremen.
- Collaborate with subcontractors vendors and internal teams to ensure smooth project execution.
- Maintain accurate documentation including time sheets change orders and field reports.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required. Technical training degree apprenticeship or vocational training in HVAC mechanical construction HVAC/mechanical engineering/engineering technology or a related trade preferred
- A minimum of seven years of experience in commercial HVAC construction including at least three years in a Foreman Superintendent or equivalent field leadership role required. Five or more years of progressive field leadership experience as a Foreman Assistant Superintendent and Superintendent strongly preferred. Experience working on retrofit projects a plus.
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple crews projects or complex HVAC construction activities.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems mechanical construction methods installation practices codes commissioning processes and construction scheduling.
- Ability to read and interpret project drawings specifications schedules RFIs submittals and construction documents.
- Proven ability to supervise workforce activities manage manpower resources and coordinate multiple stakeholders.
- Experience with labor planning productivity tracking workforce development and field coordination.
- Strong leadership communication conflict resolution planning and decision-making skills.
- EPA Universal Certification required.
- OSHA 10 or 30 Certification preferred.
- Experience with project management or construction software (e.g. COINS or similar ERP system).
- Proficiency with Microsoft365 including Excel Outlook Word and Teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong communication problem-solving planning and decision-making skills.
- Strong organizational time-management and multi-tasking skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with and effectively coordinate and influence customers subcontractors vendors and internal cross-functional teams.
- Strong commitment to safety quality and customer satisfaction.
- Adaptable with the ability to effectively support change management to continuous improvement.
Certifications
- EPA Universal Certification required
- OSHA 10 or 30 Certification preferred
- Valid drivers license and clean driving record
Leadership & Communication
- Proven ability to lead and manage field crews
- Strong communication skills for coordinating with project managers clients and subcontractors
- Ability to resolve conflicts make decisions under pressure and maintain productivity

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must be able to climb ladders lift and carry 50 or more pounds distinguish colors for electrical work and tolerate confined spaces. Work will involve heights and seasonal temperature extremes. Proper use of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) is required while performing tasks.
