Husky Paw Playschool Program Assistant

Position Description:

New for the 2026-2027 school year the School Age Care (SAC) program is providing wrap-around care services to 4-year-old children enrolled in Owatonna Public Schools early learning programs. SAC is committed to providing students with a high-quality child care programwith engaging activities suited to the interests of the childrenenrolled in the new program islooking for employees who are passionate about positive youth development and dedicated to providing youth with opportunities to grow every day.

TheProgram Assistants work in afun fast-paced environment. These positions supportplanning preparation and delivery of fun and engaging activities for 4-year-olds and share responsibility for the safety and well-being of the children in the program. These positions do include working on non-school positions include interacting professionally with site teammates and building staff.A program handbook provides the expectation for excellence in programming. The Site Supervisor brings the program vision to life with the support of Program Assistants and the SAC Program Coordinator.

3 part-time-equivalent positions are available.

Position Requirements:

A passion for working with children in a fast-paced and enriching environment. Exhibit flexibility as a team player with the ability to problem-solve and handle multiple tasks at a time. Maintain a customer focus with an understanding of parent-child interactions. Must be 16 years of age or older. A High School Diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred. Training beyond high school/GED is appreciated and preferred as is evidence of previous successful experience and professional training working withyoung childrenin achild care/education environment. This position requires the ability tocontribute tocooperative staff partnerships with communication skills to understand and be understood. Consistent and timely attendance is a must.

Schedule:

The successful candidate for this position must commit to work all days scheduled within a school year Paw Preschool is open Monday through Friday during school attendance days. On non-school days site staffwill need to be available tosupport aFun Day program. The daily work schedule may be adjusted based on daily attendance of participating year staff have first consideration for continued summer employment.

Available assignments include:

Position 1: Monday through Friday 7:15-8:15 am

Position 2: Monday through Friday 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

Position 3: Monday through Friday 2:45 pm - 5:15 pm

* One person may fillone or more of these assignments as available.

Program Calendarspans September 2 2026 - June 4 2027

*These positions will have orientation and training hours during District Workshop Week August 24-26 2026.

Classification / Pay Rate:

A-1-3EA // $17.31 to $20.89 per hour (depending on experience)

Employees will accumulate Earned Sick and Safe Time (ESST) in this position (If your position is full-time - 30 hours or more additional benefits are available).
