Job Summary

About the Role:

The Human Resources Generalist also commonly searched as HR Generalist Human Resources Specialist HR Coordinator Human Resources Administrator or HR Representative supports day-to-day human resources operations within a manufacturing environment. This first-shift non-exempt position is responsible for recruitment support employee relations onboarding benefits administration leave coordination timekeeping training performance management regulatory compliance workers compensation reporting and employee communications. The role works closely with employees and senior management while maintaining confidentiality supporting workplace safety and promoting a positive company culture.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage key aspects of the employee lifecycle including recruitment needs applicant screening hiring documentation onboarding employment verification terminations layoffs and coordination with temporary staffing agencies.
  • Support employee relations by responding to employee questions and concerns facilitating workplace communications assisting with problem resolution and providing guidance regarding disciplinary actions.
  • Coordinate employee benefits administration insurance documentation time-off requests and state and federal paid and unpaid leave requirements while maintaining accurate and confidential records.
  • Maintain the employee time clock system and process time-off requests to support accurate attendance scheduling and workforce administration.
  • Coordinate new hire orientation required personal protective equipment initial employee training training competency requirements and documentation associated with job responsibilities.
  • Maintain employee training records schedule training sessions and help ensure required training and performance appraisals are completed accurately and on time.
  • Support compliance with U.S. Department of Labor requirements applicable state and federal employment regulations labor laws employment standards unemployment insurance requirements OSHA reporting workers compensation reporting and workplace safety standards.
  • Participate in management reviews provide HR-related reporting advise management on employee and workforce matters and maintain appropriate discretion and confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
  • Facilitate employee engagement activities including workplace communications luncheons celebrations and other employee events that support workforce morale and company culture.
  • Provide backup operational support for production coordination activities when needed including customer releases shipping registers packing slips bills of lading parcel shipping documentation and advance shipment notices while following required safety standards and personal protective equipment requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Degree preferably in Human Resources or equivalent education and experience relevant to human resources administration and employee support.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of Human Resources experience or comparable professional experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of U.S. Department of Labor requirements and applicable state and federal employment policies regulations labor laws and employment standards.
  • Experience supporting OSHA and workers compensation reporting requirements employee safety programs and workplace compliance activities.
  • Demonstrated employee relations and behavioral management skills including the ability to address employee concerns resolve workplace issues and provide appropriate guidance regarding disciplinary matters.
  • Strong organizational follow-up documentation writing editing and public speaking skills with the ability to manage multiple HR responsibilities and deadlines.
  • Proficiency with computers and HR-related administrative systems including the ability to maintain employee records and operate a timekeeping or time clock system.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees and advise upper management on human resources matters while exercising sound professional judgment.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and discretion when handling employee records personnel matters disciplinary information benefits documentation and other sensitive information.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with moderate noise levels variable climate conditions and required adherence to workplace safety standards and personal protective equipment requirements.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Human Resources education or equivalent experience with broad exposure to recruitment onboarding employee relations benefits administration leave coordination training performance management and HR compliance.
  • Previous HR experience supporting manufacturing employees production operations temporary staffing agencies and a diverse hourly workforce.
  • Experience working directly with senior management and participating in management reviews workforce planning employee communications and HR-related reporting.
  • Familiarity with unemployment insurance employment verification paid and unpaid leave administration workers compensation OSHA reporting and related employment documentation.
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to build effective employee relationships support workplace culture and professionally address sensitive employee issues.
  • Experience coordinating employee training maintaining training records supporting performance appraisal processes and assisting with employee engagement activities.
