CONTACT INFORMATION:Dr. Victoria Spangler or Trey Spivey at SUMMARY/SCOPE:The Theatre department is hiring for multiple positions in various roles.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Recruiting 1-2 positions 6 hrs. per week Duties: contact interestedpotential theatre students via email or phone; check Slate inquiries and admitsweekly; set up campus theatre visits; work with HSU recruiting for visits; manageand organize MFAD program; assist with auditions; meet and greet new studentsand families at shows; provide tours of the theatre; attend state-widerecruiting events when possible; assist with preview events. Must have strong organizational skills writing and proofreading skills strong interpersonal skills andshould be a self-starter and able to work with or without supervision. Must be punctualand able to follow and complete a weekly checklist. Dress: casual unlessmeeting students: business casual at that time. Upperclassmen only. Promotional Director 2 positions 6 hrs. per week Duties: Maintain a weekly detailedcalendar of promotion duties for all shows of the 2026-27 season; create showcollages after each production; prepare lobby with special displays for selectproductions (completed on the Tuesday that the show opens; ) update and changeoutdoor marquee weekly; create a Behindthe Footlights feature or other promotional features for each showof our 2026-27 season; add to the HSU Facebook page and Instagram accounts on aregular basis; weekly emails (every Thursday) to HSU MarketingDirector Communications Director Photography Director and Brand contact. Create and send promotional slides forupcoming shows to tv monitor contacts across campus. Responsible for posters being placed on campusAND around Abilene at designated for archiving past productions digitally and with hardcopies. Must have strong organizational skills strong writing skills somevideo and editing skills strong interpersonal skills and should be aself-starter punctual able to meet deadlines and work without supervision. Thisperson is responsible for the creative promotion of the events at HSUTheatre. Business casual attire duringwork hours. Upperclassmen only. Costume Shop 1-2 positions 6 hrs. per week - Afternoon work between1:00-5:00 M-F is preferred. Duties: Must be able to work atleast 2-3 hrs. at a time. Duties: arranging and re-shelving costumes;organizing costumes fabric jewelry accessories; repairing garments;assisting with building costumes (supervised); checking and maintaininginventory keeping costume shop neat straight and clean. Sewing skills are a plus. Must have strong organizational and creative skillsand must be a self-starter and able to work with or without supervision. Mustbe punctual and able to follow and complete a checklist. Casual clothingappropriate for climbing ladders and moving clothing. Closed toed shoes. Box Office 2 positions 1 at 4-6 hours per week; 1at 8-10 hours per weekat least half of those hours must be between the hoursof 1:00-5:00 M-F Duties: Must be able to work atleast 2 hrs. at a time. Duties: maintaining box office recordsoffice work experience with computer programs such as Word Excel PowerPointand Publisher; maintain and update mailing lists customer service ticketsales creating playbills for each play creating QR coded programs preparingand running the box office for each production cleaning/tidying up the officeand theatre. Must be highly organized able to meet deadlines have exceptionalinterpersonal skills and enjoy working with the be able to efficientlycomplete a checklist and take and follow directions. Careful attention todetail and ability to proofread is a necessity. Business casual attireduring work hours. Scene shop worker/Prop Room Supervisor 1 position 8 hrs. per week--Mustbe able to work at least 2 hrs. at a time. Duties: Must be able to work at least 2 hrs. at a time. Duties and Responsibilities: in addition toall items listed in Scene Shop Worker description will also organize andmaintain 2 prop rooms and 1 soft goods room; basic repair of props; keepstorage spaces neat and clean; re-shelve props; inventory; assist in monitoringthe check in and out system; assist prop crew and set crew when necessary. Musthave strong organizational skills and should be a self-starter and able to workwithout supervision. Must be able to take and follow directions. Time will be split between storage areas andscene shop. Casual clothing appropriatefor painting building lifting and stacking material. Closed toed shoesrequired. Upper classmen only. Scene Shop Workers 8 positions-8 hrs per week AND 1 position -10-12 hrs. per week-- must be availableto work between the hours of 1:00-5:00 M-F. 9 workers total. Duties: Must be able to work at least 2 hrs. at a time. Duties and Responsibilities: assist withscenic construction painting loading in and out shop and storage maintenanceand inventory and some theatrical lighting work. Work with power tools andother theatrical equipment with training and supervision. Must have a strongwork ethic and positive tenacious attitude. Must be able to take and followdirections as well as communicate. Should be a self-starter able to work in ateam and work with and without supervision. Arrive on time for work andmaintain a reliable attendance record. This job is active in nature requiringworkers to regularly stoop kneel crouch crawl climb balance as well asfrequently stand walk sit use hands/fingers and arms. Will frequently lift10 to 25 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. Learn understand andabide by all safety policies and use of safety equipment and personalprotection equipment. Casual clothing appropriate for painting buildinglifting climbing moving and stacking materials. Closed toed shoes required. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Must be an HSU student. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: For scene shoppositions: Must be in good physical shape healthy withgood arm and leg strength. WORK ENVIRONMENT: For all positions:ChristianValues friendly environment work as a team and unit.
