CONTACT INFORMATION:Kristi Terbush/ SUMMARY/SCOPE: The Peer Academic Coach assists aStrategic Learning Initiative (SLI) Instructor by helping students connectadjust and succeed within the HSU academic environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Work under the supervision ofan SLI Instructor. Provide Peer Academic Coachingduring weekly thirty-minute individual meetings with SLI students. Complete initial and weeklyPeer Academic Coaching training. Perform other duties asassigned by the Lead Peer Academic Coach or SLI Instructor. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Must be a Hardin-SimmonsUniversity student in good academic standing that has been through andcompleted the SLI program. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical demands describedhere are representative of those that must be met by a student worker tosuccessfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonableaccommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to performthe essential functions. While performing the duties ofthis position the student worker is regularly required to talk and student worker is frequently required to stand; walk; sit and use hands tofinger handle or feel. The student worker is occasionally required to reachwith hands and arms and stoop kneel crouch or crawl. The student worker mustoccasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. This position also requires theability to sit or stand for long periods while performing office andphone/computer operations. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environmentcharacteristics described here are representative of those a student workerencounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties ofthis job the student worker is occasionally exposed to outside weatherconditions. The noise level in the workenvironment is usually quiet.
