HIM Abstractor I

Nemours is seeking a temporary HIM Abstractor!

The HIM Abstractor I is accountable for endtoend verification classification and digital indexing of clinical documentation within the EMR ensuring complete accurate and readily retrievable information for patient care. The position applies HIM policies and legal validation standards creates encounters when required and utilizes advanced document technologies to minimize redundancy while sustaining high accuracy and productivity performance.

Responsibilities:

1. Analyze and classify documents within the document management system.
2. Index documents into the patients electronic medical record (EMR) as digital formats for ease of storage retrieval and use. This position may be directed to process historical/acquisition documents/records or work in the Extract clerical icon as needed.
3. Maintain a 99% accuracy rate and 95% productivity rate.
4. Create encounters in the EMR system as per policy and procedure as needed to consistently locate patient documentation.
5. Demonstrate a working knowledge of the HIM policies and reliable methods governing the verification process.
6. Validating the authenticity of legal documents.
7. Utilizing advanced technology to eliminate printing and redundancy of documents.
8. Apply critical thinking skills exhibit strong independent judgment and research to assess complex problems overcome challenges and adapt to changes.
9. Additional miscellaneous duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time by employees supervisor.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma required
• Keyboarding and 10-key data entry skills
• RHIA/RHIT preferred
