High School Mathematics Teacher

The High School Mathematics Teacher is responsible for creating a rigorous engaging and student-centered learning environment that promotes mathematical understanding critical thinking problem-solving and real-world application. The teacher delivers standards-aligned instruction monitors student progress differentiates learning to meet diverse student needs and collaborates with colleagues families and administrators to support student achievement and well-being.

• Plan and deliver engaging standards-based mathematics instruction aligned with district and state curriculum.
• Teach assigned mathematics courses which may include advanced mathematics courses.
• Develop lessons that promote conceptual understanding mathematical reasoning and problem-solving.
• Differentiate instruction to address varying learning styles abilities and student needs.
• Utilize a variety of instructional strategies technology tools and evidence-based practices to increase student engagement and achievement.
• Incorporate real-world applications and interdisciplinary connections into mathematics instruction.
• Foster a classroom culture that encourages inquiry collaboration perseverance and intellectual curiosity.

• Design and administer formative and summative assessments to measure student learning.
• Analyze assessment data to inform instruction and improve student outcomes.
• Maintain accurate and timely records of student attendance grades and academic progress.
• Provide meaningful timely feedback to students.
• Develop intervention and enrichment opportunities based on student performance.

• Establish and maintain a safe respectful inclusive and productive learning environment.
• Implement effective classroom management strategies that promote student responsibility and positive behavior.
• Maintain high expectations for student conduct and academic integrity.

• Collaborate with teachers instructional coaches counselors special education staff and administrators to support student success.
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and concerns.
• Participate actively in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) department meetings faculty meetings and school committees.
• Support school initiatives and contribute to a positive school culture.

• Maintain current knowledge of mathematics content instructional best practices and educational technology.
• Participate in professional development activities and apply new learning to instructional practice.
• Comply with all district policies state regulations and professional ethical standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or designee.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Mathematics Mathematics Education Secondary Education or a closely related field.

• Valid North Carolina state teaching certification/licensure in Secondary Mathematics or eligible for North Carolina teaching license.

• Masters degree in Mathematics Education Curriculum and Instruction or related field.
• Experience teaching multiple levels of high school mathematics.
• Experience using instructional technology and digital learning platforms.
• Knowledge of differentiated instruction Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS).
• Experience working with diverse student populations.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to:

The teacher should be proficient in the use of:

• Learning Management Systems (LMS)
• Student Information Systems (SIS)
• Interactive presentation platforms
• Online assessment tools
• Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
• Graphing calculators and mathematics software
• AI-enhanced instructional tools used in accordance with district policy to support lesson planning differentiation formative assessment and student feedback while maintaining academic integrity and protecting student privacy.

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students staff and families.
• Ability to lift and carry instructional materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to perform duties requiring visual and auditory acuity.

• School classroom environment.
• Occasional evening or weekend responsibilities for school events conferences or professional development.
• Frequent interaction with students parents staff and community members.
