Job Summary
The High School Mathematics Teacher is responsible for creating a rigorous engaging and student-centered learning environment that promotes mathematical understanding critical thinking problem-solving and real-world application. The teacher delivers standards-aligned instruction monitors student progress differentiates learning to meet diverse student needs and collaborates with colleagues families and administrators to support student achievement and well-being.

- Plan and deliver engaging standards-based mathematics instruction aligned with district and state curriculum.
- Teach assigned mathematics courses which may include advanced mathematics courses.
- Develop lessons that promote conceptual understanding mathematical reasoning and problem-solving.
- Differentiate instruction to address varying learning styles abilities and student needs.
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies technology tools and evidence-based practices to increase student engagement and achievement.
- Incorporate real-world applications and interdisciplinary connections into mathematics instruction.
- Foster a classroom culture that encourages inquiry collaboration perseverance and intellectual curiosity.
- Design and administer formative and summative assessments to measure student learning.
- Analyze assessment data to inform instruction and improve student outcomes.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of student attendance grades and academic progress.
- Provide meaningful timely feedback to students.
- Develop intervention and enrichment opportunities based on student performance.
- Establish and maintain a safe respectful inclusive and productive learning environment.
- Implement effective classroom management strategies that promote student responsibility and positive behavior.
- Maintain high expectations for student conduct and academic integrity.
- Collaborate with teachers instructional coaches counselors special education staff and administrators to support student success.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and concerns.
- Participate actively in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) department meetings faculty meetings and school committees.
- Support school initiatives and contribute to a positive school culture.
- Maintain current knowledge of mathematics content instructional best practices and educational technology.
- Participate in professional development activities and apply new learning to instructional practice.
- Comply with all district policies state regulations and professional ethical standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or designee.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Mathematics Mathematics Education Secondary Education or a closely related field.
- Valid North Carolina state teaching certification/licensure in Secondary Mathematics or eligible for North Carolina teaching license.
- Masters degree in Mathematics Education Curriculum and Instruction or related field.
- Experience teaching multiple levels of high school mathematics.
- Experience using instructional technology and digital learning platforms.
- Knowledge of differentiated instruction Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS).
- Experience working with diverse student populations.

The teacher should be proficient in the use of:

- Interactive presentation platforms
- Online assessment tools
- Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
- Graphing calculators and mathematics software
- AI-enhanced instructional tools used in accordance with district policy to support lesson planning differentiation formative assessment and student feedback while maintaining academic integrity and protecting student privacy.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students staff and families.
- Ability to lift and carry instructional materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to perform duties requiring visual and auditory acuity.
- School classroom environment.
- Occasional evening or weekend responsibilities for school events conferences or professional development.
- Frequent interaction with students parents staff and community members.
