High School English Teacher

Required:

• Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with a Highly Qualified Endorsement in English (BA) or Language Arts (BX)
• Passion for teaching and a commitment to student success
• Student-centered approach focused on meeting the diverse needs of all learners
• Strong communication collaboration and interpersonal skills
• Ability to integrate technology and innovative instructional strategies into the curriculum
• Understanding of diverse learning styles and the ability to provide differentiated instruction
• Ability to design engaging learning experiences that challenge students and incorporate various levels of depth of knowledge
• Commitment to collaboration as an active member of Professional Learning Communities
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues parents and administration to support student growth
• Commitment to accountability for student achievement and academic growth
• Ability to prepare students for success on M-STEP PSAT 8/9 and SAT ELA assessments

Preferred:

• Successful high school English teaching experience or student teaching experience in secondary English including general education and/or Advanced Placement courses
• Masters degree in English or equivalent graduate coursework that qualifies the teacher to provide direct college credit opportunities through local community colleges
