Job Summary
Uncommon High School Athletic Directors cultivate a passion for an active lifestyle in every student by managing the high schools athletic programming. Our Athletic Directors manage a wide array of responsibilities including budgeting training teachers fundraising among many others. We have built a community that encourages respect and hard work and celebrates students academic and nonacademic achievements. Our goal is for students to develop into strong teammates who are interested in and knowledgeable about healthy lifestyle habits.
Responsibilities
1. Athletic Direction
- Youll manage and direct the schools athletic program.
- Youll supervise the coordination of all school athletic events ensuring all activities and events are in line with the School District NJSIAA Rules and Regulations and local leagues and conferences in which the team is participating.
- Youll work with school administration to prepare a budget and allocate spending to both existing and new sports programs.
- Youll work with school administration in the recruitment of new staff and facilities.
- Youll work with coaches to determine scheduling of games and practices.
- Youll evaluate coach performance ensuring best practice which is in line with school culture.
- Youll participate in revenue development planning and fundraising.
2. School Culture
- Youll build positive relationships with students to ensure they feel seen loved and heard.
- Youll partner with students families to ensure appropriate resources are available to support their childs learning needs.
- Youll engage in practice-based professional development mentorship and coaching sessions.
- Youll participate in weekly school-wide meetings to cultivate community model our core values and encourage student achievement.
- Youll partner with your grade level team to develop academic goals and practice instructional strategies.

Required Experience:
- A demonstrated interest in impacting K-12 students in urban schools and communities (1-2 years experience preferred).
- An expertise in athletic direction high school education physical education and sports science and management.
- Prior to the start of employment you must have a bachelors degree from an accredited college or university. Teacher certification is not a prerequisite for consideration at Uncommon Schools in the state of NJ but you do need to meet NJ state certification eligibility requirements (a final undergraduate or graduate cumulative GPA of 3.0 for graduates on or after 9/1/16 or 2.75 if you graduated prior to 9/1/16). All instructional staff are required to become certified in the state of New Jersey within a reasonable period after beginning employment.

Compensation
Compensation for this role is between $59000 to $80000. Most candidates who meet job description requirements will receive an offer of $59000 - $63000.
Starting pay is determined using various factors including but not limited to relevant professional development education certifications and tenure with Uncommon Schools.
