Job Summary
This National Guard position is for a HELICOPTER PILOT (TITLE 32) Position Description Number D2929000and is part of the FL AASF 2 National Guard.
As a HELICOPTER PILOT GSyou will Pilot a variety of on one or more of the following helicopters: Attack Helicopter (AH-64); Cargo Helicopter (CH-47); Utility Helicopter (UH-60 series) (LUH-72 series) and others when assigned. Routinely operates with short takeoffs and landing capability in all types of weather day and night over a variety of terrains and open bodies of water. Flights are made using landing facilities ranging from modern improved airport with paved runways and navigational aids to unimproved strips of remote isolated villages. This position will be required to make reconnaissance and observation flights. Makes test flights and checks all systems in connection with maintenance actions and takes necessary action to correct malfunctions. Participates in all-weather search and rescue operations as required utilizing a thorough knowledge of the terrain features of the geographical area. Conducts flight checks following repairs maintenance or installation of approved aircraft system modifications. Responsible for transportation of cargo and transporting passengers among a variety of familiar destinations
- National Guard Membership is required.
- Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
- Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
- May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
- Security Clearance requirements are determined by position and/or MOS/AFSC compatibility.

AREA OF CONSIDERATION: This position is in the Excepted Federal Civil Service under the authority of 32 U.S.C. 709 and is open to Category 1 & 3 Only. Category 1: All permanent/indefinite (T32 and T5) technicians employed by the agency WITH dual FL National Guard military membership; Category 3: All current military members of the Florida National Guard. First consideration will be given to Category 1.
PCS: Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs MAY be authorized. Authorization for payment of PCS expenses will be granted ONLY after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Florida National Guard.
Recruitment / Relocation: Incentive MAY be authorized. ONLY after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Florida National Guard.
FLNG BUS Code 8888: This position is excluded and ineligible for labor organization representation.
Military Grades: Warrant Officer- WO1 thru CW4
NOTE #1: Must submit a DA Form 759E.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:GS12 Must have at least 2-years of specialized experience in civilian aviation or military service aviation programs; with at least two years specialized competencies in operating the CH47 HH 60 and UH 72 rotary wing military aircraft as well as mission planning and mission preparation; experience in reviewing and analyzing mission tasking intelligence and weather information; experience in filing flight plans and conducting crew briefings; experience in aircraft preflight inspections aircraft loading and equipment assessments; experience in performing or supervising work procedures involved in navigation in-flight refueling search and rescue operations or surveillance and reconnaissance.
TEMPORARY PROMOTION- For Title 32 selectees only: This is an obligated position (incumbent is on a military tour). If a permanent employee in Title 32 excepted civil service accepts this position he/she will retain their permanent status AND return to their previous Title 32 position once the incumbent returns from military duty. If the military tour member who has reemployment rights to this position does not exercise his/her reemployment rights within 5 years the selected individual may remain in this position without further competition.
INDEFINITE APPOINTMENT-For Current Title 5 selectees only: This is an obligated position (incumbent is on a military tour). If an on-board individual employed in Title 5 excepted civil service accepts this position he/she will be converted to Title 32 and will receive an indefinite appointment (Tenure 3). If a Reduction-In-Force occurs and/or the military tour member exercises reemployment rights to this position the indefinite appointee will have no reemployment rights to any other position and may be separated. If the military tour member having reemployment rights to this position does not exercise his/her rights within 5 years this position may be converted to a permanent status without further competition.
